Part 15

It was beach day, and after a long struggle to get permission from Munakata to go, I took Rei and Jesse and shoved them into the van with the other Homra members, another van filled with the rest that were coming plus all our beach gear.
I had gone out with Anna a few days before and bought bathing suits for everyone, so we were set to go.
The car ride was filled with bad singing and Rei's screaming giggles, and when we finally got there, I was more happy that Rei had a chance to go to the beach than I was to be here with my true clan.
"Come on, Yuri!" Yata grinned, grabbing his surf board and sprinting over the sand to the water, "The waves are perfect!" He yelled.
I grinned, watching him get on the waves with great form, though he screwed up a few times, he always went back to it.
When he finally let go of the surf board he was soaked. I glanced at him grabbing his towel, Rei was munching on a snack, also soaked and covered in sand, and I hadn't gone near the water yet.
I swallowed hard, making my way towards the water. I placed my feet on the wet sand, and quickly stepped back as the waves came forward again.
I stared carefully at the water as it moved back again, taking a step forward. I caught sight of a sea shell and went to grab it, but the waves beat me to it and I ran back again.
I glanced back at the boys as they giggled at my child like reaction to the water.
I glared hard at them, Mikoto blinking at me from his place under his giant ass umbrella.
I smiled sheepishly as Yata walked over, looking at me with a little concern, "You don't know how to swim do you?"
"I've never really been to the beach before." I admitted, "It's kinda embarrassing."
He shook his head and held out his hand, "Come on, I'll go in with you and make sure nothing happens."
"Okay."
Taking his hand, I gripped it as he walked with me into the water.
I got in knee deep before stopping completely, glancing back at the others cheering me on.
Smiling, I went farther in with Yata, but not without him ahead of me.
As the water reached my chest, I held Yata's hand tighter and he turned back to look at me.
"We don't have to go any farther." He assured.
"Okay." I breathed, "That's good because this is nerve wreck-" Something swept across my leg and I screeched, gripping the boys arm against my body, "What was that?!"
He blushed, "Probably just sea weed, y-you don-don't have to worry! You're safe here with me remember?"
I looked up into his eyes from the merky water, his eyes closer than I thought they would be.
"O-oh, hey there." I stuttered out.
He snorted, "Maybe we should go back?"
"Good idea." I blushed.
