Imagine: being Bucky's girlfriend and you go with him in a mission, where you run into Steve, only one plot twist, you use your power to protect Bucky: you can shapeshift into animals.

You and Bucky are on a secret mission again, this time in Russia, in the middle of Winter. You're walking through the snow and you're incredibly cold.
You shiver and Bucky almost chuckles.

'Don't you dare say it...' you growl at the very amused man walking next to you.

'I told you so...'

'Hilarious Buck, Just wait until I get back at you for that!' You snap as you two keep on walking.

'Yeah, is like to see you try...' he replies and you can hear a twig snap and both your heads turn.

'Hydra...' Bucky mutters as his eyes look down at the hydra symbol.

The three soldiers run out of the woods and jump onto you and Bucky and you try to fight the first one off.
You get hit by the second one and your blood starts to boil.

As you fall to the ground you see that your tooth has been knocked out by the soldier. You change your shape into a white wolf and the soldier steps back.

You attack him, putting your claws into him and you can hear the man scream out of pain. You end up putting your claws right next to his face as you stand over him.
You show your teeth and you can see the fear in the man eyes as he looks into your icy blue ones.

You go for the neck with your right claw, leaving cuts on his face. He's dead now and you can hear someone approaching on your left. You head shoots that way and you look back to see if Bucky is okay.

You look into the woods again and you can see a figure walking towards you. You move in between Bucky and the figure. As the light hits the figure you can see he has a shield and a gun. The finger on the trigger. You growl as you put your feet steady on the ground.

'Wolf!' Another man yells and he shoots at you.

'Y/n!....No!' Bucky yells as you let out a small but agonising howl.

Bucky rushes to you as you start to crawl away.You turn back into a human and you put your hand on your stomach. Bucky turns you onto your back and looks at you with tears in his eyes.

'Buck?' Steve brings out as he lowers his shield.

'Who fired the shot?!' Bucky yells.

'It was..it was.. it was an accident...' the man who fired stutters.

'Bucky please baby...don't...' you whine out.

'Don't what?' He grits his teeth.

'Don't yell at him...he didn't know...' you groan.

'I don't care...you're not supposed to get hurt...'

'But I did and it's okay....'

'No it's not, you're dying and I- I can't lose you, who's going to help me through the night and who's going to help me calm down?...I - I....'

You lay your hand on his cheek as you squeeze your eyes out of the pain.

'Don't move...maybe you'll survive...'

'Buck...I- I won't...it's too deep and I already lost a lot of blood...so let me say something to you....' You breathe.

'No...no please...don't do this to me..  y/n...'

'Bucky...I already told you a thousand times that I'm not the reason you're getting better, it's only because you're trying and you're succeeding...you don't need me to get better Okay...and.... I love you... and this time around I'll watch over you... and when anyone tries to even get close to you I will do anything I can to haunt them for eternity and beyond...that's a promise...' A small smile grows on his lips and you wipe a tear away.

'I need you to promise me something Barnes...'

'Whatever you want y/n...'

'Promise me you won't kill him and also promise you will move on...else all your hard work goes down the drain and I will also haunt you if you do...and let me tell you I can be a real poltergeist if I want to...' you say with a small chuckle.

'I promise....' he replies and you pull him into a kiss.

Your forehead on his and you sigh. You open your eyes and you look next to Bucky.

'M-Melanie?' You can bring out.

'Sister, it's time to go...' she offers you her hand.

Bucky lays you down and you can feel the pain flowing away as your vision gets brighter and brighter.

'I...love...y-' you say before your body gets weak.

'Y/n....' Bucky speaks up as he feels your body going limp.

'I'm so sorry...' the man apologises but Bucky doesn't even register it anymore.

Bucky holds you in his arms as he kisses your head.

'It should've been me...' he keeps repeating as he rocks you back and forth.

'It should've been me...'
