Song: Skylar Grey - words.

Imagine: being the daughter of Pierce and helping Bucky behind your dads back. He shows up in the middle of the night and you offer him a drink and talk.

You walk down the stairs and glance back at the stairwell, hoping your father didn't follow you, his concern was far from needed right now, you have a big ballet performance coming up in two days and you couldn't sleep.

Once you've reached the living room you put on some Tchaikovsky and you turn the music up just so you can hear it, but it escapes your fathers ears.

You take two glasses and fill them with water.

You walk to the table and put one glass on your side and one on your opposite.

'I'm not thirsty...' his voice cuts the tension in the air like a knife.

'Thought you'd might say that, but since I constantly tell myself I'm not thirsty too, I just filled one up just in case...'

'Why are you so nice to me?'

'Because you're human and you're the only friend I really have right now...'

'Sounds lonely...'

'Hmm, never thought about it that way...I'm so caught up in dancing and my dad being in both SHIELD and HYDRA, which he doesn't know I know...I just never realised I didn't have someone to turn to...'

'I'm not someone you an turn too,..way too dangerous...'

'Don't cut yourself short, you're really nice to talk to...I enjoy coming down at night and seeing you sitting there, remember the first time you were down here and you scared the hell out of me?' You remind him and he smiles softly.

'I remember that...you threw a glass filled with water at me and you basically knocked yourself out...'

You let out a chuckle and you start to blush.

'Yeah lets not mention that again, it's embarrassing...'

'It's cute...' he replies and you smile.

'What is this music by the way?' He asks.

'It's Tchaikovsky, the one from Swan lake and the Nutcracker...I'm dancing on his music in two days...'

'Nervous?'

'Nah, I've got this...' you say confidently.

'It looks like you do, oh and your father will be down in 6 minutes, you might want to go back to bed before he catches you....'

'It's a shame...'

'Well I see you in two days, your father wants me to come for his protection...and yours..' he explains.

'Well o look forward to seeing you...there...' you say as you stare into his eyes.

He moves closer and so do you.

'I'm glad you're not scared of me...' he mutters before you press your lips against his.

'Same here...see you in two days..oh and you can always come to me, my door is always open..'

'Thank you y/n...' he smiles as you take your glass of water with you upstairs, blushing from the kiss.

You sneak into your room and you suddenly remember you left the music on.

You want to walk down the stairs again but you can hear your father talking to Bucky.

'Y/n was downstairs just now to get a glass of water, she didn't see me, she forgot to turn the music off, and she also left her glass water, so I drank it, don't want the water to go to waste...' his voice echoes through your ears.

You let out a silent chuckle as you walk back to your room.

[two days later]

The music starts and so does your dance.

You glide across the floor as elegant as possible. You look into the audience and you spot your father and Bucky sitting next to him, in a suit, his hair in a bun with a few strings out, enough to make you almost forget you're dancing.

He grins at you, but stops when your dad turns to him.

You crack a small smile before turning your back on the audience to run to the back of the stage.

You get ready to make the final jump and you do a run up and you spread your legs for the jump.

Suddenly a gunshot sound rings through the theatre and you land on you feet and stumble onto your knees as you clutch your stomach.

The pain spreads as you look into the audience, most people are running but not your father and Bucky.

'Y/n...' Pierce breathes as he holds you in his arms.

You try to speak but you can't anymore. You glance at Bucky and he looks worried and sad.

You smile softly at him before turning to your dad.

'I'm sorry...' he chokes.

You nod and you start to feel yourself drifting off.

'I...love...you...' you choke out as your last glance goes over to Bucky again then you turn your head and close your eyes.

A couple weeks later Bucky is still sitting in the kitchen in the middle of the night. Still hoping that you're going to walk down those stairs and put on some music as you grab two glasses of water and put one down for him.
