Chapter 10 - Sacrifice

(A/N: I've noticed that I've made some minor errors in the plot as well as the timeline.(MOSTLY FIXED NOW ^^ ) But since it's nothing too serious I hope you guys takes it with a grain of salt as I am writing this as I go and I tend to forget some details and so on. Carry on :* )

Flashback

Ban went on another stroll around the kingdom. He had worked there with Meliodas for about six months and was getting bored out of his mind. Sure it was a good thing nothing relatively dangerous was going on but at the same time it was dull not doing anything more than patrolling the streets at night and occasionally breaking up a drunken fight.

He had met Meliodas and the others not too soon after Elaine had died and he had decided to work in the kingdom with them. They were his close friends and comrades but he still felt something missing.
He missed (Y/N).

The fight they had before she left him was their worst fight they ever shared.
She refused to take part in disturbing the fairies forest by going to the fountain of youth.

(Y/N) of course was like him, a thief, crazy and wouldn't, especially when drunk, hesitate to rearrange someones face. But she was the Keeper of balance. Her job was to keep the different worlds and creatures out of harms way from either each other or dark forces.

She knew he wasn't going to mess with that place and he never intended become immortal.
But she told him that a place like that was only created to keep the fairies home alive and was never meant for humans. Even when he agreed not to go she said she needed to take some time away from him and travel on her own.
It broke his heart but he respected her wishes, but him still being bitter decided to go to the fountain in the end.

Suddenly he heard a thud and he saw a woman lying on the street, he hurried over and turned her around to face him.

"(Y/N)?!" He picked her up and when he noticed her legs were bleeding he rushed her inside.

"You what?!" Ban yelled while (Y/N) looked down at her own hands that were shaking and gripping the sheets.

"It wasn't like that" she whispered.

" I know we're not together but seriously-"

"Ban listen!" she tried to yell but her voice came out strained.

He looked over at her and realized that she wasnt worried that he was mad at her, she was grieving. He walked over and sat down on the bed and tilted her chin to look at him. "What. happened?" He growled.

So she told him what happened a month after they separated. She had been kidnapped and taken to a lab where she was experimented on. After a few years she had managed to escape and found Liones.

"And then after I left I discovered this.." She finished and pulled up her nightgown enough to show the Phoenix symbol on the inside of her left thigh.

Ban was beyond furious. Someone had hurt her, abused her and forced her to give up something so precious to her. She refused to name the man who had done it and he knew better than to ask further. But the day he would find out. He would make that man suffer . Someone had touched her, his (Y/N).

"So, where is she?" He asked while trying to stay calm.

"I found someone. They were so nice." She whispered while gripping his shirt tightly in fear of him leaving her side.

He only nodded and held her close to his chest while stroking her hair.

She lifted one of his hands and rested it against her lips for a moment before holding it close to her heart.

He laughed slightly "You don't have to apologize. It wasn't your fault. You did the right thing"

"But I abandoned my duty... What if I made a mistake? What if she?-.."
