(Y/N) clutched her fathers shirt while her whole body shook with fear.
"P-Papa" she cried.
Her mother walked over "Oh sweetie, I'm sorry" she grabbed the child and walked over and sat her down while kneeling to her level.
"W-Why m-mama?" she felt sick to her stomach as the stench of copper filled the room.
"Sweetie, if I had known earlier you never would have needed to see this. You would have never existed" she cooed.
The child looked at her mom with fear and confusion in her eyes.
The mother sighed. "Remember what I told you about our ancestors?"
                              The child nodded slightly
"It is the duty of the women in this family to protect the magic in this world and it's children. Wether it's preventing them from fighting each other or from evil. Your father was one of them."
                              "P-Papa w-was a d-demon?" she hiccupped between her sobs.
                              The mother nodded.
"I know it is difficult for you my dear. But what needs to die needs to die. And what is dead must stay dead. It is not for us to decide" She said while raising her hand.
"And it is sacrifices we have to make"
                              "Mama!"
                              -----------------
(Y/N) jolted up while clutching her chest. She looked around the room and relaxed once she recalled her arrival in Liones kingdom where Ban had found her. She rubbed her face sighing and then felt an arm around her waist.
                              "What's wrong?" The fox muttered.
She smiled and lifted his arm while lying down next to him and let it rest on her hip.
"It's fine, go back to sleep Ban"
He slipped his hand inside her shirt and ran his fingers across the scar on her back.
"Nightmare again?" he yawned and blinked his eyes open.
She shivered at his touch "Yeah.."
She had met Ban a few months after she had barely escaped her mother and he was the only one who knew fully about her past.
"Come here" he said pulling her closer to him while softly pecking her across her face, making her smile warmly as she closed her eyes. She had missed these moments with him.
Her heart sank when she thought of how stupid she had been for leaving him in the first place.
She wouldn't have been caught and she wouldn't have to go trough the pain she was experiencing. She had only been holding her child enough for her to sing a lullaby, that her parents used to sing to her, before they took Arielle away. But it was still her child.
Even if her instincts had told her to kill the child since it was a threat, she couldn't bring herself to do it.
That's why she was now marked as a sin. Why? How could it be a crime to protect ones child?
                              "(Y/N)?"
She was brought out of her thoughts and stared into a pair of worried scarlet eyes.
"I know" he said "I wish I could make your pain go away" he continued while kissing her trail of tears and gently wiping them off with his nose. "But I will carry it with you"
She cupped his face in her hands and looked at him for a moment as if she wanted to tell him something.
"Thank you" she said eventually and kissed him before settling to go back to sleep.
He sighed to himself and held her close.
                              "Goodnight (Y/N)"
                              --------------------
"Captain watch out!" (Y/N) pushed the captain out of the way and they tumbled down the hill.
Both were badly injured and struggled to stand.
"(Y/N) get out of here while you still can!" he yelled as the demons approached them.
"Keep dreaming!" she yelled back. She would never abandon a friend, no matter if the odds of them surviving this were against them.
Suddenly (Y/N)'s legs gave out and that's when Meliodas noticed that one of the demons had gotten to her badly.
"Shit! We need to move!" he yelled as he supported her on his shoulder.
(Y/N) knew Meliodas were almost as badly injured and wouldn't be able to take them far enough to survive.
She chuckled weakly. "We are not going to get out like this Captain"
Before Meliodas could comprehend what she had said he felt himself getting lifted and thrown far enough so that what she was about to do wouldn't affect him.
She turned to face the demons.
"I know you're going to help me with this one Papa" she muttered to herself.
Meliodas struggled to stand up as the impact when he landed had worsened his injuries.
He watched as the hill was struck with a dark force.
Eventually he managed to get up and ran as fast as he could.
                              ----------
(Y/N) was lying on the ground weakly laughing. She did it.
She lifted her hand to her chest and gripped the padlock in her hand.
"I'm sorry Ban.." she coughed "I broke my promise"..
She held the padlock to her lips, she wasn't ready to say goodbye, she wanted to see Ban again.
She wanted to finally tell him how she truly felt, she wanted to find Arielle.
She remembered how Merlin once had taught her a bit of magic.
This would be enough. Even if she would never be able to tell them in person. This would be enough.
She mustered her very last strength to transfer her memories.
So that her daughter one day could see, so that Ban one day could see.
How much she truly loved them.
