(A/N: Just thought I'd mention that there will be some gore-ISH parts and psychological horror, so if you're sensitive, brace yourself . Or as they say, trigger warning!
Not sure if it's actually THAT bad. But hey, better safe than sorry :* )
After Hendricksons defeat the remaining holy knights patrolled the streets to help the injured and to gather the deceased. Everyone was tangled in their own sorrow, confusion and shock that they didn't notice the dark power growing not too far from them.
Meliodas had sent away Diane, King and Elizabeth to help the citizens.
They didn't understand what had just taken place so he thought it was best for them to leave until he could find the time to explain.
He looked over at the two people who were the closest to him, besides Elizabeth, and felt completely helpless. What could he do? What could he say?
He simply put his hand on Ban's shoulder, silently telling him they should move someplace else before people would come and ask questions.
Ban didn't take his eyes off (Y/N) and simply nodded before getting up.
He tried to offer to carry Arielle but she only gripped her tighter.
She got up while still holding on and started walking.
The whole walk to the tavern was silent and(Y/N)'s stride never broke as she looked ahead with a blank stare.
When they reached the tavern she walked past it and continued out in the woods, with Ban and Meliodas not far behind her.
Once she came to a clearing she stopped and looked at the view from where they were standing. Ban understood why they were there and tugged at Meliodas sleeve to follow him and gather wood.
Once the guys had set up a pyre they looked over at (Y/N) and moved out of the way as she laid Arielle down on it. She walked over and stood beside Ban and touched his arm gently, silently telling him to say his goodbyes. He nodded and walked over to his daughters corpse.
He kneeled so that his head was at her level and stroked the hair that was a mix between his pale blue and (Y/N)'s (H/C). But the eyes were from him, he caught a glimpse of them before she closed them for good.
"I honestly have no idea what to say" he chuckled, but the strain in his voice gave him away.
"I wish I could have known you.. Seen you growing up and which one of us you would resemble the most." his breath shuddered as he sighed.
"But you definitely inherited your mothers courage.. What you did today.. Was an act of selflessness I've only seen in her." he gave a faint smile
"What you endured all those years, shows a strength that proves, yeah, you are our child.."
his hands began to shake.
He felt a hand on his and looked up at (Y/N). Even if she wasn't speaking and carried that blank stare, he could feel all her love and comfort in that simple touch.
He got up to her level and stood beside her as she put her hand on the pyre and whispered something. Suddenly it caught fire and they backed away and watched while silently bidding their only child a final farewell.
                              ---------
Meliodas sat down with everyone while Ban and (Y/N) remained upstairs and began to tell them what happened and who that beast really was.
At the end of his story everyone was in tears and Merlin got up to see if she was okay but was stopped by Meliodas.
"I need to see her" she snarled at the Captain as her motherly insticts kicked in.
Not only was the woman that had been like a daughter to her alive but she was also currently going trough insufferable pain.
