[A/N] Sorry if this is a crappy chapter. I apologize in advance.
Josh sat on stage. Everything was going too fast, eventually the train had to stop, only would it have enough time? How much damage would occur from the wreck?
They counted down to three before they started rolling. He had no idea how he got here.
The same women who interviewed El was now interviewing Josh, his face was still bruised. He refused the offer to get it covered up.
"About three weeks ago your girlfriend El was sitting in the exact same chair as you are. How does that make you feel?" The women had clearly rehearsed what she was going to say. They were fools for letting him speak without a script.
"El is not my girlfriend." His tone was clipped, annoyed to no end.
"Oh—well that argument before—"
Josh cleared his throat, cutting her off.
"Was supposed to be between El and I; but since you're asking I'll be happy to fill you in." Through the audience El stood in the doorway, tears in her eyes. Why was she here? He thought. She wasn't supposed to be here.
"How about we move on? Would you like her to be your girlfriend?" Josh shifted in his chair uncomfortable.
"I'd like for her to be happy." He didn't want to say how he wished for her happiness everyday. How he prayed for El to suddenly become happy. That he never hesitated to step up to save her. But he did hesitate.
Josh thought about the slight drizzle as he left El next to the bus. How he should have grabbed the person who knocked her books over and punched them senseless. He was never a violent boy. El changed him. He learned what it was like to love someone who hated themselves. Josh learned that he wanted to fix all of the mistakes he made. That his actions has consequences.
"I'm sorry, say that again. My mind was thinking about a rainy afternoon near a bus." Josh's eyes landed on El's, she didn't dare to look away.
"How do you feel about the kids at your school? Our sources say you got into a fight just recently. About what?"
"I was fighting over something I loved. Or someone. The kids at my school watch as people become victims. I watched too. I'm just as much to blame as them."
El turned away slowly, Josh got out of his chair, unhooked his mic and excused himself. The cameras followed Josh as chased after El, once more.
The broadcasters shut the cameras off.
Their airtime was over.
