Angels and Devils

I swear, if you say one more thing about his butt, I will flick you, I mentally say.

"I'd very much appreciate it if you wouldn't swear."

"Fuck that."

"Jungkook!" the angel cries. And by angel, I mean an actual angel.

Somewhat.

You know how people on television have the cartoon angel and devil on a shoulder, guiding them and telling them right from wrong? Well, they do exist. Other people just can't see mine, and I can't see those of others.

Jungkook, you know Jimin doesn't like cursing.

"Screw that."

The angel pouts. "Jungkook-"

"Anyway...about Mr. Worldwide Handsome over there..."

I roll my eyes at the nickname my guides gave to my crush. He sits across the train from me, earbuds in, phone in hand. His eyes scan the screen as he scrolls. Although he's doing something so common, he looks amazing. He's so good looking that, if I were straight, he would make me gay.

Don't call him that! I scream in my head. I'm glad they can read my thoughts so that I don't look insane as I talk to what appears to by myself. Everyone has a pair, and it's rare when someone has two angels or two devils, but not unheard of.

I, however, have three angels and two devils.

No one has ever had more than two. No one knows this. I fear I'll be viewed as even more than a freak.

Jungkook lays on his stomach on my shoulder, his long red tail slowly swaying in the air. "But look at him! He's so hot. Go ask him for his number."

Are you crazy?!

"Yes."

I can't do that. I'm so out of his league.

"I never said you weren't."

Jimin scolds, "Jungkook! Please don't push him." He moves up, presses a tiny hand against my cheek, and offers a smile. "Don't worry! It'll work out. You're a catch!"

Thanks, Jimin.

He beams, his eyes resembling crescent moons. "Anything for you hyung!"

Jungkook scoffs. "Kiss ass."

"Language please!"

The youngest rolls his eyes. "I wish Taehyung or Hoseok came instead of you."

Tears gather in the angel's eyes. "K-Kookie..."

The devil gawked at the sight. "Ah-! Jimin-hyung!"

I shoot daggers at him. Jungkook, you'd better apologize to him right now.

He opens his mouth, but he's cut off by the sudden jerk of the train. He flies off my shoulder, but I manage to catch him. In an instant, I realize how strange it looks to have my hands randomly extended out, and I quickly move him to rest in my lap. Jimin had managed to extend his tiny wings and fly back to stand on my shoulder. He looks down at the younger and covers his mouth with a hand to keep from laughing. Be more careful, Jungkook! I tell him.

He pushes himself to his feet. He stands on my thigh and brushes himself off. "Shut it! It's not like I have wings I can summon at will."

"One perk of being an angel."

"I hope you fall."

"That's so mean!"

Guys, please stop. I look up to see the other passengers filing out of the doors. We're heading home now. Grab on. As subtly as I can, I move Jungkook back onto my shoulder and head for the train doors.

Before I can step out onto the train platform, a body bumps into mine. An apology tumbles out of the man's mouth immediately.

Before I can tell him that's it fine, I meet his eye and my throat closes so that no words can escape.

Oh my god, it's Worldwide Handsome.

The one on my left shoulder smiles in satisfaction. "Told you it was a good nickname."

Mr. Worldwide Handsome shyly smiles at me. "I'm sorry. I didn't see you there."

I'm speechless. I want to answer; I really do. But I can't.

"I hope I didn't break you," he says as he laughs at my dropped jaw and dead stare.

"Snap out of it, Namjoon!" Jungkook cries.

"He's looking at you weirdly," Jimin adds.

I think as quickly as I can and say the second thing that comes to mind. I'd say the first, but I'm not sure how well this interaction will go if I flat out tell him, My god, you are one of the hottest hunks I've ever laid eyes on.

"I'm the one that should apologize." I'm suddenly very interested in the floor. "I'm very clumsy."

"It's quite alright. I wasn't paying attention." He smiles, and I can feel my insides melt. "Um...I actually have somewhere to be. Do you mind?"

"Mind what?" Then I realize I'm blocking the only exit. "Oh! Y-Yeah, go ahead," I say as heat rushes to my face and I step to the side. "I'm sorry."

Once he's off the train, he pauses to glance back at me and grins. "It was nice meeting you, um..." He looks at me expectantly.

Why is he looking at me like that? I think.

Jungkook tugs on my ear. "He's waiting for your name, idiot."

"Ah! I'm Namjoon!" I blurt out.

Taken back, he blinks, but he never loses his smile. "Nice meeting you, Namjoon." He walks away, and I stare until the train doors close.

Unable to stop smiling, I fall back into a seat and release a dreamy sigh. "I can't believe I actually talked to him."

Jimin embraces my cheek and pokes my dimple. "I'm so proud of you, Namjoon! And he seems very nice. I think you should ask him out."

"Slow down a little, Jimin. He can't even get off a train by himself apparently."

I turn my head toward him. "What? Yes, I can."

He raises an eyebrow at me. "Wasn't that your stop too?"

Shit.
