"Hoseok!"
I hear a tiny giggle originate from under my bed.
Deciding to play along, I grin. "Hmm. I wonder where he went. Is he in the closet?" I ask, staying in my spot at the foot of the bed.
He laughs again.
"I guess not. Maybe he isn't in this room." I feign an over-dramatic sigh. "Oh well. I'd better go tell Namjoon that we lost him." I stomp in place, hoping it makes him think I've left. I wait a few seconds before seeing him pop his head out from under the bed. When he thinks the coast is clear, he crawls out into the open.
I hurry forward and grab him. "Gotcha!" I hoist him up into my arms and laugh when he shrieks with joy.
"Mom! That's not fair!"
"You're the one that fell for it, Hobi." I place a peck on his cheek. "Okay, it's time for bed."
He whines, "Can't I stay up?"
I start to head for the living room. "Now, Hoseok, we've been over this. You know that you need sleep so that you can grow up big and strong."
"But I wanna stay with you and Daddy!" He sticks out his bottom lip. "Mommy, please please please?!"
"I said no, Hoseok."
It's clear he's still upset, but he doesn't push it. He leans his head on my shoulder. "Yes, Mommy," he mumbles.
I rub his back. "Good boy." I kiss his head. I head down the stairs to see my husband in the living room, lounging on the couch with a book in his hand and glasses placed on his nose. He hears the floor creak under my weight and looks up. I smile at him. "Hey."
He returns it. "Hi, baby." He closes his book and folds his glasses before setting them on the couch. He stands and walks over to us. By now, Hoseok has raised his head to watch him. "Ah, I see it's someone's bedtime."
"Daddy, I don't want to sleep."
"But you need to." He kisses the back of his head. "Goodnight, Hobi. I'll see you in the morning."
"Okay, Daddy." He lays down his head again and curls his fists around my shirt.
I focus on Namjoon. "I'm going to tuck him in and then I'll be back, okay?"
"Yeah." He pecks my cheek before I head back up the stairs. We had switched Namjoon's and my office into his bedroom, because he apparently has really bad nightmares sometimes so he can come see us when they happen.
I set him down on his bed and pull his airplane-covered blanket over him. As he rubs his eyes, he mumbles, "Mommy?"
"What is it, Hobi?"
"Are you going to stay home with me tomorrow?"
I shake my head. "I can't. Mommy has to go to work tomorrow. But you're going to spend the entire day with Daddy, and you two are going to have lots of fun."
