The thought of not being with him is agonizing.

I'd take pure and endless torture over this, though.

I run alongside the stretcher, staring desperately at the still body that lie on it. A doctor and two nurses hurry along with me, but I pay them no attention. Everything had happened so fast I still don't believe it.

I never thought I'd see him again. After we broke up, he moved a few cities away thanks to a job offer, and I stayed right where I was. I planned to text him, maybe, but never did so, afraid of any kind of response. But, he was happy, so I lived my life despite missing him.

Days turned into weeks, weeks into months, and a full year had passed before I even realized. I started thinking of him less, and I soon became similar to how I was before, but I knew I'd never be at my best unless I was back together with him.

Then he visited.

And all of those feelings and memories came crashing down to pummel me.

It was so sudden, without warning. It started out as a simple shopping day until I spotted him in the next aisle, conversing with Hoseok. He turned, and our eyes met. If it was awkward, he didn't show it.

We talked over coffee, and it was as if we were meeting for the first time yet knew everything about one another. It wasn't as heart-wrenching as I had figured, and I was grateful for that. I cringed at his jokes, joyful that he hadn't changed one bit.

Before departing, I offered to buy him dinner. I know it's an awful idea since we are broken up, and I could tell he thought so too. But, with a smile, he agreed. I hoped maybe it would go somewhere, and I could get him back. Unless he didn't want to, I was going to try my hardest.

I sat at the restaurant booth for an hour before I received the call that Jin was in a violent car accident.

Twenty-three minutes later I'm at the hospital, watching as the love of my life is rushed inside.

"We're losing him!" one of the nurses cry.

"Faster! Get him into the room!" The doctor and one nurse attend to him as the other nurse blocks the doorway so that I can't enter. She tells me to stay, and I fight with her, wanting to be by his side.

"Sir, I need you to leave so we can operate."

"Jin! Jin, please!" I forcefully push past her and stop at his side. "Come on, Jin!" I grab ahold of his hand. "Stay with me! Please!"

Each nurse pulls on an arm of mine. "Sir, please leave!"

"I'm sorry, Jin. I'm so sorry! Please come back to me!"

It takes four people to get me back into the hallway, and three of them hurry back into the room to aid my injured hyung, the one that had remained attempting to calm me down. It didn't work, obviously.

I sit in the hallway and face the door. I refuse to leave. The second that door opens, no matter what, I'm going on there to be by him.

It takes hours upon hours, and soon it's dawn.

When the doctor steps out, I scramble onto my feet in a panic. "Is he okay?!" I grab his arms. "Please tell me he's not dead!"

"He's alive, sir. He's resting right now."
