~(Y/n)'s POV~From the service station, I watched painfully as Prompto flirted with the young mechanic. My heart ached and tore my gaze away from the scene. Gladio stood next to me, crossing his arms as he shook his head. "He's an idiot."
"If he doesn't like me, I won't force him to. If he likes Cindy, let him chase her to the ends of Eos. In all honesty, I don't think she's the dating type. She's married to her job. Prompto's too blinded by the hearts in his eyes to realize that, though."
"Kid can't see what's in front of him. You're better off with findin' a different crush."
"Oh, like you?" I smirked with an arched brow.
Gladio shrugs, "That's up to you, shortcake."
"I'll—"
A sudden splitting pain erupted in my chest. I placed a hand over my heart and winced. Gladio placed a gentle hand on my back, peering worriedly at me. "You okay? You turned really pale all of a sudden."
"E-Excuse me for a moment." I ran to behind the garage and that's when the coughing started. I hunched over, feeling as if I needed to throw up. When something fell from my mouth, I picked it up. It was a blue flower petal.
"A petal?" I was confused as to why such a thing was in my mouth and how I failed to notice it.
"(Y/n), are you okay? Gladio said you didn't look so good."
I nearly jumped out of my skin when I heard Prompto's voice from right behind me. I quickly spun around and dropped the petal. "I just suddenly felt nauseous. I'm fine, Prom."
My words didn't wipe the worry from his face. It only seemed to add to it. "You don't look fine. Maybe we should call it a day and find a motel."
I shook my head. "I promise you, Prom. I'm fine. What happened with your chat with Cindy?"
His worry for me vanished and was replaced by a boyish smile, shattering my heart further. "She had another car to work on and said we could talk later."
I forced a smile. "Well, I'm glad you and her are getting along."
His cheeks burned brightly. "Yeah. I'm gonna try and ask her out the next time we're here."
That was it. The final nail in the coffin. I could feel my already shattered heart break into even more pieces. My smile fell and I bit my lip. "I... I hope it works out."
I walked past the boy and returned to where I had left Gladio. The shield saw me and casted his concern towards me. "Feel any better?"
I looked away, refusing to meet his amber gaze. "I feel worse than before."
"What did Prompto say to you, (Y/n)?"
"Let's just say... I never knew a broken heart could shatter even more."
Gladio frowned, "(Y/n), if you—"
"No, let him go. If he can be happy, that's all I need."
The brute sighs, "You're too kind for your own good."
I fell silent, burying my hands in my lap as I sat on the hood of the Regalia. Noctis and Ignis returned from shopping and we hopped in the car. We waited for Prompto before departing to Wiz Chocobo Post in the Duscae region.
