lillian ♡
we walked in the room where our dad was laying, tubes, wires and everything connected to him.
he wasn't awake yet, they had to put a pacemaker in him because his heart wouldn't beat on his own.
i just want to understand why he would do this to himself.
i don't want him to die, he can't because he's all i have left and i need him still.
there will never be a point in my life where i don't need him.
i sat on the chair next to his bed.
and just looked at him.
bryan next to me.
bryan had his hand on mine, squeezing it, because we were both thinking the same thing right now.
were we not good enough for him?
a nurse walked in.
"excuse me?" i said.
she turned and looked at me.
"yes?"
"do you know when he will wake up?" i asked her.
"i'm sorry, i don't know for sure, but within the next few weeks he should." she said.
"thank you" i said and she nodded.
"you both should go home and get some rest. you guys need it" she said.
"i want to be with him" bryan said.
bryan was always closer with him than i was because i was closer with our mom.
"he's not going anywhere, and he's under great hands here, you need to get some sleep. he will still be here tomorrow." she said.
"okay, thank you, again."
she left the room.
visiting hours would be over soon anyways so when they kicked us out, we went in the waiting room.
"go home, b. get some sleep and call me in the morning and we will come together." i said to him.
"yeah okay." he agreed and hugged me before.
i walked over back to jack who stayed here all day with me.
"thank you" i said.
"i love you, okay" he said and pulled me in a hug and kissed my head.
it meant the absolute world to me that he did this for me.
i love him endlessly and i can see myself marrying him, but what i can't see is marrying him without my dad walking me down the aisle.
so he has to get better. he needs to. i need him here always.
"let's go home" i whispered, he nodded and lead us out and back to the car and he drove us back home.
when we got there, i walked inside and saw a girl around like seventeen, sitting on our couch.
"um" jack said from beside me.
"um, excuse me?" i said.
she looked hurt, her hair was all messy and had dirt all in it, she has dirt spots all over, bruises, cuts and everything else.
her clothes were all messed up as well.
"hi" she spoke up.
"who are you?" i asked her.
"marissa." she said. "i was told you knew where my mom was"
what? who even is this?
"um, i'm sorry.." i trailed off.
"you have to know her. my dad just died and i don't want to go with those foster families, she's my only chance. please" the girl said.
"what's her name?" i asked.
"milania martinez jacobs"
and that's when my heart stopped beating. i might as well be with my dad.
jack looked at me.
"can you give us a minute?" i whispered.
he nodded and kissed my head. "i'll be upstairs"
then he walked up.
"so, you are marissa, you're the girl my mom told me about when i was younger. you're my half sister." i spoke.
"what?" she said, obviously confused.
"i'm lillian jacobs, your mom is my mom"
"i have a sister?" she asked.
"and a brother."
"wow. my dad never mentioned that" she had a small smile.
"marissa, did he not tell you about our mom?"
"he told me she lived here in omaha."
"not anymore" i said as i bit my lip so i wouldn't cry.
"oh well where is she?"
"she died, two years ago." i said softly.
and her face fell.
"what.. no that can't be right" she mumbled as she sat back down.
"it's right" i said and sat next to her. "how old are you?"
"sixteen" she mumbled. "how did she die?"
"she was shot, me and her went to the store one day and someone- they- they just shot her and it was too late." i explained as my vision got blurry.
"what about your dad? does he know about me?"
"hes not in good shape. you should get home" i said and stood up.
"i don't have a home. i kind of live on the streets. i have for weeks." she said.
"oh" i said.
