(A WEEK LATER...)

(AT LISA AND JEFF'S HOUSE)

(JEFF) Today is my only daughter's birthday. Lindsay is turning 14. She'll start 9th grade this August.

Lisa took Lindsay out so she could get all dolled up while me and the boys stayed here and set up for the party.

Parker and Chase were blowing balloons while I was setting up the grill. Jase was setting up the tables and chairs.

"I thought you told me Tyler, Cameron, Rocky, Trevor, Melissa, and Tommy were all coming over to help."

"Hello Mr. Davis.", said Cameron

I spoke too soon

" Sup Cameron."

"Oh by the way the DJ's coming in a few. I saw him at the store getting gas.", he said

"He better. I paid him a lot of money."

Then the rest of the crew came from out of the woodworks.

Everybody pitched in and helped with setting everything up for Lindsay's party.

The DJ finally arrived  and set up his equipment

"What time does this party jump off?", asked Cameron

" At 4:00."

"Its 3:00 now."

Oh shit I have to go pick up the cake

"Damn it!!!! I forgot to go pick up the cake."

"Already taken care of. I took the liberty of picking it up on my way.", said Cameron

" Thank you Cameron. You're a life savor."

"Jase asked me to pick it up. He said y'all would be out here setting up and getting ready. It  was no big deal."

It crazy how my son's friends have become family to us.

I hear another car pull up

The slide door opens

Its Tarren, Josh, and Stefan

"Sorry we're late. We got caught up in...", said Josh

"Josh just say you were taking too long to get ready and be done with it.", said Tarren

" When I talked to you earlier you were all over Carly."

"We weren't doing anything. Her six weeks aren't up yet."

"Alright SALT n Pepa cut it out. Is there anything we can do brother in law?", asked Stefan

"Yeah actually you can go two can go inside and bring all the meat out and Stefan you can go inside and bring out all the sodas and ice and put em in the coolers."

"Yes sir.", he said

A few minutes later kids started coming by one by one. Damn how many people did we invite?

" How many people did we invite? ", I asked Jase

" I'm not sure, but you better hope and pray you don't run out of food."

"Why do you say that?"

"Cause I'm certain more kids are coming."

Jase pats me on the back

And just like he said more kids arrived

They were mostly teenagers, which is a good thing. Everybody can take care of themselves.
