Chapter 8: Side Trip

I was so eager to leave the country already. Lalo na sa nangyari kahapon.

Thank goodness hindi ko na nakita si Aaron buong araw. I called the marketing department to know what he was doing and they said na marami silang pinagawa sa kanya which was good para hindi kami magkita. But knowing Aaron, he would show up anytime he wanted.

Siguro iisipin ko nalang na he was being considerate sa nangyari kahapon that's why he didn't bother to show his face in front of me today which made me glad.

On Tuesday night, I had dinner with my mom. Nasa ibang bansa pa kasi si dad kaya kaming dalawa lang ni mommy. Mom and I were just talking about random stuff. Gusto niya lang kasi na magdinner kami before ako pumunta ng Hawaii. Binilin niya rin na mag-ingat daw ako doon.

I left early the next day because I had an early flight. When I arrived in Hawaii, I went straight to the meeting with the investors. It took us six hours of talking, sharing and debating before they decided to end the meeting.

The following day, they finally decided to close the deal between theirs and our company. Sobrang saya ko na sa wakas, we closed the deal after days of persuading and convincing them.

I should be going back to the Philippines after spending two nights in Hawaii. Besides, I already got the deal. But then I told Ines that I wanted to stay in Hawaii a little bit longer and be back on Sunday instead of Friday.

I secretly booked a flight to California on a Friday afternoon, US pacific time. Only I know about this. All they know is that I am staying in Hawaii until Sunday.

I rode the cab and after an hour of being on the road, nakarating narin ako sa wakas sa pupuntahan ko. I smiled seeing the house where I have lived for years while I was here in the states.

Sobrang na missed ko to. Two months ago palang naman ako umalis dito because Ate Genie got married then dad asked me to stay in the Philippines and manage the business with him.

Staying for two months in the Philippines felt like forever. Gustong-gusto ko na agad bumalik dito.

But now, I am happy because I finally have a chance to come back here, so I grabbed the opportunity while I'm here in the states.

"Thank you." I smiled at the uber driver for helping me unload my luggages.

"Sure, no problem. Have a great night!"

"Thanks. You too!" I smiled answering him. When he left, I walked towards the main door of my house. I was happy to see that my front yard was looking so nice. Manang Daisy took care of it really well.

I was very excited to be back, so I quickly grabbed the key and opened the door. Silence welcomed me.

"I'm home!" I announced loud enough for anybody to hear.

In a split second, lumabas na agad si Manang Daisy looking so shocked to see me. Her shock turned into a wide smile.

"Gwen! Nako, hindi ka nagsabi na dadating ka. Sana nakapaghanda ako ng paborito mo."

I smiled at her and gave her a kiss on her cheek and a hug. "No need, manang. Gusto ko talagang surpresahin kayo kaya hindi ko sinabi na dadating ako."
