Chapter 29- 18th birthday camping trip

Matthew's POV

I woke up the next morning and i texted taylor,

Text convo m=Matthew t= taylor

M- Aye Man U busy?

T- Nah whats up

M- Will you come to Walmart with me? I need to pick up some stuff.

T-Sure u pick me up?

M- Yeah be there in like 30 mins

T- Ok I'll be here.

M-Later bro

T- Laters

I picked him up and we drove to the store.

We were walking down the food isles and i got this list of stuff...

Chips

Bread

Lettuce

Tomatoes

Ham

Turkey

Arizona tea

Water

Marshmellows

Chocolate

Graham crackers

Etc...

After we got all the food we got just your average camping stuff...

Matches

Flashlights

Etc...

After we got those me and taylor were walking to the checkout and we passed my the little pharmacy section. Taylor suddenly stopped and i turned around.

"Dude what are you doing?" I asked him and i walked back towards him. I turned to look at what he was looking at, it was the condoms.

"Do u think we should get some just in case?" Taylor asked me.

"Yeah go ahead," i said with a sigh. He grabbed a box quickly and through them in the cart.

We walked to the check out and decided to do the self checkout so we didn't have to deal with the people looking at our stuff. I didn't want anybody knowing we were buying these.

"Let's go get the chairs, tents and sleeping bags from your house. You have them right." I said to taylor as we walked out of the store.

"Yeah i got them" he said and we put the stuff in my truck.

We picked up one small tent and two chairs and 4 sleeping bags from Taylor's house. Then we headed to madisen's house to get 2 more big tents and some more chairs. We got those and we then went back to my house. Everyone was gonna meet there before we left.

Abbeys POV

I was about to leave to go to Matthew's to go camping when my dad stopped me. "Can we talk for a minute?" He asked me and i nodded my head. I knew this meant i was just going to listen to what he was saying and i wouldn't do any speaking. We both sat down on the couch.

"Abbey, you are an adult now. I cannot protect you forever... You know how i feel about letting you go somewhere not in public with boys. I know i can trust u... I just don't want you to have to ever be pressured into doing something okay... I'm going to let you go because you are an adult, just know you should never let a man take advantage of you. You are a beautiful young woman and i couldn't live if you ever got hurt. I love Matthew i really do, he's a great guy. Just remember i don't want anyone to think wrongly of you...i love you too much to see that happen okay?"

"Okay dad i won't do anything stupid." I said.

"Ok go have fun sweetie i love you."

"Love you too dad," i said and gave him a hug. He walked me out the door and helped me into my car.

As I drove away i began thinking of what my dad was saying. Ever since I was in 7th grade he had this idea that people would think i was a slut. One time i wore a cut out tank that showed my bra and he went on and on about how it wasn't ok to show your undergarments. And one time me and maddy were hanging out with our best guy friend at the time, jerry. It got really hot outside and my parents weren't home but we went inside anyway. When they found out i was alone with a boy in the house they flipped. I've always been a good girl, straight A student, and a good daughter, my dad just cared how the world viewed me. Like if everyone knew i had a boy over i was automatically a slut.

Anyways i had arrived at Matthew's. I saw Maddy's car, Carter's van and Matthew's truck in the driveway. Madisen wasn't there yet. I pulled up on the curb and got out. Taylor and Matthew were loading stuff into the truck. I walked up behind him and hugged him from behind.

"Hey," he said and kissed my forehead.

"Hey," i said and let go of him.

Taylor was reading off a list, "3 tents, 6 chairs, 6 sleeping bags, matches, flashlights, food...looks like we've got everything." He said and me and matt smiled.

Madisens car pulled up and she got out, and went to her backseat. She pulled out a few blankets. She walked over and handed them to Matthew, "i thought these would be useful it gets pretty cold up there, " Madisen said as he put them in the truck bed.

"Lemme go grab a few more from inside," Matthew said and he ran inside to get some.

As he was doing that I got my radio from my car. I put it in the backseat of his car not in the truck bed. When matt came back outside maddy and carter followed him. We decided to put all of our like clothes bags in Carter's van, and we did.

Matthew's POV

Everyone was walking to Carter's van when I stopped taylor. "Where are those condoms?" I asked him in a whisper.

"In my bag," he said pointing to it in his hand.

"Ok good because i didn't want the girls finding those and thinking we were gonna try stuff with them you know..." I told him and we started walking to caters van.

"Yeah i understand," taylor said and he put his bag in the van.

It was time to go... We all said our goodbyes and we decided i would drive in front of the van and they would follow my truck. Everyone got in the van and me and abbey got in my truck.

"Ready?" I asked abbey with a wide smile.

"Yeah! Let's goo!!!" She said her voice full of excitement.

I backed the truck up and we all left my house and headed to the camping site.
