The Vytal Festival

"Hey, mom. I just wanted to let you know how things were going, you know. Since we don't get to talk much anymore. I have this amazing boyfriend now! And I got into Beacon." Ruby said, speaking to her mom's grave.

You were standing behind her, a bit of a distance away, but you could still hear what she was saying.

"Y/N, come here for a second, please? I want to introduce you to my mom." Ruby said excitedly. "Oh yeah, I am on a team with Yang, Weiss, Y/N, and Blake! They are the best teammates one could ask for, and together we make TEAM RWBY! Before you ask, yes that does cause a lot of confusion." Ruby went from shouting to talking normally, out of excitement.

"Y/N, this is my mom, Summer. Mom, this is the boyfriend I was telling you about." The girl carried on. This was nothing new to you because you did this quite a bit back when your parents died.

"Hello, ma'am. I am Y/N L/N. It is good to meet you." This was all you could say, the memories from your parents started coming back.

"I miss you. Oh yeah! Dad is finally going to go on some missions again! He misses you too." Ruby said in a saddened tone.

You and Ruby then heard something behind you. Thinking it was a Grimm, you drew your weapon, which you always carried on you unless it was in town.

As you and Ruby turned around, Ruby started walking towards a man in the distance.

"Hey, dad." Ruby was slightly nervous

"Hello, Ruby. Who is this guy with you?" Tai asked defensively.

"You mean your dad doesn't know?" You whispered to Ruby, who was next to you.

"He will now." Ruby whispered. "Dad. This is, Y/N. My boyfriend..." Ruby said, nervous as to how he will take it.

"Boyfriend huh? Well before you say anything else, how long have you and he been together for? He looks like a decent guy, I am proud of you Rubes. I just wish you could have told me sooner." Tai said in a proud, excited voice.

This got your hopes up. "He likes me already." You thought to yourself. Nervous as all else.

"However. Looks won't get you anywhere. We can talk more after the festival." He added on, this caused your hopes to plummet, knowing your past he would never accept an ex-criminal.

Timeskip to the Vytal Festival.

Ruby was providing cover fire while trying to fend off an attacker, Blake was taking up the big challenge with her opposition.

Yang was fighting an evenly matched battle her end. Weiss was also struggling to keep up her end. They were winning by a small amount.

You were busy helping Blake and Weiss, managing to land a hit and take the heat off the heiress and the cat.

Eventually, you landed a stun baton attack, and this, in turn, opened the opposition up for a team attack.

Blake threw out her grappling hook, and you launched yourself up into the air, using the recoil Blake timed her jump to double your height.

You came down with your stun baton and drove the tip into the ground, delivering a high power electrical shock that drained most of the guy's aura.

Blake then came down with Gambol Shroud in cleaver form and smacked him into the ground. This shattered his aura and eliminated him from the competition.

You then jumped to Ruby to help her out. As you got to her she eliminated her side of the competition.

You Ruby and Blake then jumped to Yang, the opposition was so intense that you took a fair amount of hits, this almost drained your aura, but Weiss saved you by making a giant hand out of ice, this then rolled forward, destroying the one girl's aura.
