You and your friends watched intensely as Yang and Mercury charged at each other, as Mercury kicked Yang, she blocked and elbowed him on the neck, uppercut him and punched him in the solar plexus, causing him to fall to the ground while knocking his wind out. He recovered rather quickly and in their battle for the upper hand, Yang got kicked left right and center. Mercury kicked multiple torpedos into the air, then kicked Yang straight up and then directly into the ground.
Feeling overconfident about his victory, Mercury turned his back and just before he gave a salute to the crowd, Yang got back up and activated her semblance. A fiery explosion set off behind her as she dashed forward towards him in a rage. He tried to hook her, but she ducked underneath it, and kept dodging, then proceeded to punch Mercury repetitively. She hit him in the solar plexus again, causing his aura to shatter then left hooked him into the ground.
"Great job, sis!" Ruby yelled along with the crowd.
"Better luck next time." Yang said happily.
"There's not going to be a next time, blondie." Mercury said aggressively, and as Yang turned around she saw Mercury attempt to attack her again. Yang countered by punching his kneecap downwards.
"Ah!" Mercury screamed as he held his leg in pain.
"That's what you get you little-" Yang was cut off by Atlas security.
"Yang Xio Long, stand down!" A security guard yelled as the crowd looked on in shock.
"What!? He attacked me!" Yang shouted defensively as the cameras showed her turn around and punch Mercury, yet he didn't attack her.
(Cue song: Exit Wounds by The Script)
As security escorted her to the dorm, you couldn't help but leave from disbelief. Yang attacked a student without any provocation.
"Y/N?" Ruby asked nervously you tightened your fist to the point of your knuckles turning white.
"Yeah, Rubes?" You asked, concern for Yang evident in your voice.
"You think Mercury is innocent, don't you?" Ruby asked with saddened eyes.
"No. Not in the slightest. I couldn't help but notice Emerald sitting dead still, focusing very hard on the match. I think she has something to do with it." You said angrily.
"Then we have to tell someone." Ruby said confidently.
"No, we can't. If we do, what evidence do we have to prove Emerald played a part in Yang attacking Mercury?" You asked irritably
"You're right. Sorry to bother you... I'll see you at the dorms?" Ruby said nervously.
"Don't worry. I know you think I'm mad at you, but I'm not. I could never be. I just don't understand, why Yang? What do they have planned for Beacon?" You asked while explaining your mood.
"O-oh... alright. So you don't mind if I stay?" She asked with more confidence.
"Sure." You said, beginning to feel happier due to her positivity.
"I'll always be there for you. So don't think for a second that you will have to fight these wars alone." Ruby said with the cutest face.
"Thanks, Rubes. Want to head to the dorms?"
"Sure. Better check up on Yang." You said with a smile.
                              Timeskip to the dorms...
"BUT NOTHING!" General Ironwood shouted at Yang. You and Ruby heard it through the door.
"Now, whether this was a freak accident or an assault. It is my job to inform you that team RWBY is disqualified from the tournament." Ironwood said with a calmer voice.
He then left and saw you and Ruby with downcast faces.
"I'm sorry, Ruby." You said with disappointment.
"It's alright. It's only a tournament. We can always try again next year." She said with a positive tone as you entered the room.
                              "Hey Yang." You said comfortingly.
"Hey Y/N. You know I was attacked first. Right?" Yang asked with a look that seemed near depression.
"Yang... I think I know what happened. You did attack Mercury, but it was all a setup. You thought he attacked you and attacked to defend yourself from a threat that wasn't there. And I think Emerald is to blame." You said with vengeance.
"What!? How can she be to blame? She wasn't even on the arena floor?" Weiss and Blake said with disbelief.
"I know it sounds crazy. But I figured that Emerald's semblance is illusion, similar to Neo, the girl from the train that you spoke of, but Emeralds are psychological and can cause people to feel fear and emotion. Now, I noticed she was extremely focused on the fight for a simple viewer. So my guess is she used her semblance to make it look like Mercury attacked Yang to get her to strike him down and look like the bad guy." You said with the only logical explanation.
"But what would her reason be for that?" Weiss asked again.
"I'm still trying to figure that out. I have a feeling that shit is going to hit the fan soon..." You said with a thirst for justice for Yang.
"Do you mind if I have a minute by myself? I just need some time..." Yang asked politely.
"Sure. I'll be on my way." You said warmly.
"Oh, and Y/N." Yang called you back.
                              "Yeah?" You said politely.
"Thanks. What you said. It meant a lot." Yang said with a weak smile.
"Don't thank me just yet. I first need to get my hands around Emeralds and Mercury's throats." You said with determination.
"You do that. For me." Yang said with hatred.
                              (End song)
"Will do." You said as you exited and shut the door behind you.
"Hey guys, how's Yang doing?" Jaune asked with sympathy.
"She's... hanging on." You said, feeling the way Jaune does about this whole situation.
"If there is anything we can do, please let us know." Pyrrha said softly.
"Well... be sure to win one for team RWBY tonight." Ruby said with enthusiasm.
"We will." Pyrrha said confidently as she left for the weapons storage.
That is all for this chapter guys! I hope it was a good one. This chapter was rushed a bit. I had to make some story progression and I wanted to get that out the way
                              Cheers guys!
