Chapter Ten ~ Dinner

Its been a week and I'm not ready for this. I sorted through paper after paper to find the perfect piece of information. Something not to big, but big enough to be worth something to someone who didn't have any idea about anyone in the building.

I decided to go with the fact that death is out cold. Never met the guy so I guess I'm not 100% if it's a big deal or not but who knows. I brought a few back up things just incase. I brought a weapon because sketchy People can still exist. They asked to meet me somewhere across town so I'll have to take ether the subway or a cab. I didn't want to walk to the subway entrance so I decided to just call a cab. The place stamped this time was actually a restaurant. A nice one. Like the take your girlfriend on a date and propose nice.

I finished everything I needed to have ready and took out the papers I wanted to bring. The one being the record of Deaths stay in the ward and the others being the other bits on information. I folded them and sipped them into the pocket on the inside of my jacket. I also pocketed one of the two seals I kept. I wanted to ask about it. I stood up from my desk and checked the time.

5:12.

I stayed at the Afterlife building late so I wouldn't have to explain a lot to Lucy. She didn't mind me going places as long and she knew where. I didn't mind telling her but not when it involved telling someone her probably boyfriend was practically dead.

I got out of my desk and started heading for the elevator. The building was almost empty, everyone tends to leave as soon as 3 or 4 hits even if they've been done for a while. I opened the door to my office and was surprised to see Lust and Greed chatting in the hall. They both turned to me.

"Whoa I thought that you left forever ago." Greed looked like he was desperately attempting to change the topic of what they were talking about.

"No, I had personal papers to go over. I was just about to head out." I walked over to them.

"Little mans gonna get home to make his bed time?" Greed slipped enough sarcasm in his voice for me not to punch him. I still glared. He got a laugh out of it.

"Actually I have no bed time thank you very much."

"I'm afraid you do Mr.'cant stay out all night because Mama said so'." He's got me there. He knew he won and the grin on his face shone it. I grumbled slightly trying not to smile. Lust cleared her throat.

"If you to could kindly stop mocking each other we should all get going." She started to the elevator and we followed. "You look dressed up Devin, any particular reason?" My heart jumped to my throat.

"Um- I have, a friend who I'm meeting up with tonight." I lied out of my ass. Greed raised an eyebrow but Lust flipped around excited.

"Oh my! Are you going on a date!" She jumped next to me. "Who's it with?! Someone we know or a friend you haven't mentioned?!" She stopped talking suddenly and gave me a sly look. "Is it with Fauna?." She wiggled her eye brows.

"Ummm, no?" Why would she think it was with Fauna. We've been friends for like 2 months and Fauna hasn't given any direct sighs of attraction or anything... it's not like I see her that way ether.

"Well that's a shame. Who is it then?"

"It's not even a date. Just someone who wanted to meet me somewhere and it happened to be a fancier place so I dressed up." I shrugged and I saw Greed freeze up for a moment. He jumped back to reality and acted like nothing happened. I didn't bring anything up. 

"Well that's unfortunate. I was hoping to get some interesting stories." She pressed the button to bring the elevator to our floor.

"Welp Maybe next time." I shrugged as the elevator doors opened. There was a large pool of clear red liquid in the elevator. Both the sins turned there nose up at it looking disgusted.
