I didn't have to meet this person for a week.
I already had a load of stuff I could give them as 'payment' for information so I tried to go about my week as normally as I could. When ever I could I tried to find who that symbol belonged to. I didn't get very far. I couldnt even figured out what language it was.
The sins were going out again this Saturday and I was going as well. At Lucy's request I wouldn't stay out all night but I really needed something to take my mind off the whole situation. I've tried to keep it out of my head while at work but I can tell Lucy knows something is wrong. She's been careful with her words and when she tries to poke she doesn't get very deep. I can tell she's worried. I haven't slept well for the last few days.
I couldn't talk to anyone about it. I didn't feel like anyone in the afterlife building could know. What ever this person wanted dealt with them so I went back to that ally way where Lilith was. The ally entrance hadn't changed a bit. The door and guard were still there and he let me in once I asked to see Lilith. The curtains had all been taken down in the hall way and the ruckus from three days ago was gone. The walls were a brown maroon color and had graffiti all over them.
When I pushed the door open there was a small amount of lower class half demons cleaning the area begrudgingly. The pool was a mess with floating garbage and discolored with blood. The room was cooler then the previous time I was here but the smell was the same. Blood soaked the air. I went into the room where Lilith was the other day to see her sleeping on the yellow couch she was lounging on perviously. Her green snake was curled up into a coil on her stomach. She looked comfortable wrapped in a blanket. A light flush was on her face and her hair was a mess as always. She hasn't changed a bit.
It's been so long I can't remember her snakes name. As I stepped to her the snake woke up and slid towards me lifting its head. I moved my hand over its head and it rubbed against me like a cat. It's gold eyes looked at me and I could see the amusement in its gaze.
I sat down and turned so my back was leaning against the couch.
I was exhausted from not getting any sleep so my eyes slipped closed. The smell of blood raced through my mind and prevented me from actually sleeping. Even when I was here the other day my mind couldn't focus because of all the smells. Blood has different effects on different types of demons. Some treat it like wine, some are neutral to it, and few even hate it. Even the smell of blood is enough to cloud my mind. The feeling of blood, of causing blood, it's intoxicating. I could feel my temperature rise slowly the longer I remained on the floor not moving. It was kind like a slow burning feeling creeping up from my toes. My whole body relaxed into the comforting heat. I needed to relax and this was so comfortable.
An image of Lucy flashed in my mind and I hesitated. I debated mentally for a moment before sighing. I opened my eyes and I was surprised. I felt warm and comfortable in my own skin for once but I was further along the demon train then I thought I was. My vision had changed. I could see the warmth of the objects and walls around me, sounds were also easier to hear.
I raised my arm and looked towards it. The skin was darker then usual. I cursed under my breath and forced my mind to stop. I slowed my heart rate to as slow as I physically could and breathed. I felt the heat leave but the feeling stayed.
I jumped as a hand was suddenly on my head. I realized it was just Lilith and I calmed down.
"What are you doing here?" Her voice was slurred from just waking up but she seemed confused. I turned around to face her, she removed her hand. "Devin your eyes..."
"Yes I'm very aware, don't worry. I just didn't know where else to go. Who ever wrote those letters is fucking with my head." She slid up on the couch and made room for me. I slowly moved to the spot she made next to her. I sighed.
