It was chilly this morning. My head hurt. I woke up before I could see the sun and didn't manage to get up until at least 8:30. I crawled out of bed and a chill ran through my body as my feet hit the metal floor. I stretched and stood up walking to my dresser. I threw a t-shirt on and walked out of my room. The half finished, soon to be entrance room was coated in a layer of dew and I looked outside. The sun was up but it was covered by a thin layer of clouds. Humidity clung to my lungs as I breathed in the morning air. My chest felt hollow and my head was full of senseless garbage. I ignored my own thoughts turning away from what will soon be the front door and towards the 'kitchen'. I didn't find any food I was in the mood to eat. Everything feels numb today, like I'm floating.Sighing I found myself sitting in the middle of my shack doing nothing. Just existing. My mind was racing with only blank thoughts, I wanted to do something and nothing at the same time. Stuck in my own head I didn't realize someone was coming into the shack until I heard her speak.
"Indigo?" Her voice was pretty. It wasn't smooth and clear but small and nervous. It had a bit of an awkward tone like she isn't completely comfortable talking. "Are you okay?"
I opened my eyes and I felt the cloud of procrastination lift from my mind. A smile actually creeped onto my face as I looked up to her. "Hey E, What brings you by?" She was wearing her mask.
"I wanted to say hi! I figured it was a nice morning and I had some free time." She shrugs. She helped me off the floor and I pulled my hand back quickly from the shock I got from her touch. She pulled back as well.
"Sorry. I don't know why that keeps happening." She scratched the back of her neck.
"It's okay..." my face flushed and I turned to avoid having her see. "I'm gonna... grab a sweatshirt quick." I walked to my room and grabbed my hoodie slipping it on. From my room I heard the large chest in the main room open and close with a quiet snap. Curious I walked back in to see E standing where I left her. She stepped and looked around.
I barely heard her mumble, "How did I get here?" She turned to me shaking her head a bit. "Wanna go get breakfast somewhere?"
"Sure. I don't see why not. Any place you had in mind?" I walked to her.
"Do you know who Devin is?"
"We've met once... he probably doesn't remember." On one of my exploration journeys into the Afterlife building I stumbled on his office and took some letters out of curiosity. They were in a small lockable drawer but I didn't understand why he got as angry as he did... I didn't even have a chance to see what was in them.
"Well he has a cafe that Ark and I go to a lot and it has great food." She seemed happy about going but I wasn't looking forward to seeing Devin again. He gives me a weird vibe. I couldn't bare to say no. She seemed so excited.
"Yeah that sounds good. Lead the way." She bounced and turned grabbing onto my wrist. She shocked me again and the longer she held my wrist the more pins and needles pricked my body. She led us out of the shack and onto the dirt road leading to town. Long grass and metal statues of mine surrounded the road. She dropped my wrist and stepped into a wall next to me. She held this bubbly aura as always and it was refreshing. We fell into a comfortable silence as we walked.
"Your wearing your mask today?"
"Yeah... I really shouldn't have taken it off last time..."
"It's up to you. I think your fine without it." She seemed to shrink a little. The bubbly aura faded, I shouldn't have brought it up.
