"Devin! Devin! Look what I found!" I was sitting in a field of flowers a ways behind our house. "It's a quarts!" Elly ran towards me smiling. She plopped into the hydrangeas next to me holding out her hands. Inside her palm was a small clear rock. I gently took it from her and held it up to the sun to see it better. There was a slight blue off tone.
"Elly, I don't think this is a quarts! It looks like a sapphire!" I handed it back to her and her face lit up. She folded her legs to her side and looked at me.
"Really! That's so cool! I found it in the gravel near the stream!" She held it close to her chest. "I should put it on a necklace and keep it."
"Just don't let mom find it." Her eyes lost there shine at the mention of my mother and I frowned with her. "Just keep it safe." She nodded and I laid back in the flowers.
"One day I swear we will get out of here. Away from the chores. Away from the punishments. Away from that cursed closet." I closed me eyes and I heard small plucks and shuffling. After about 3 minuets I felt something being placed on my head. I opened my eyes to see violet ones hovering above me. Elly struggled to place a flower crown on my head.
"One day we'll escape. And we will run a castle! With staff and cooks! And well will treat everyone nicely and throw grand parties for even the poor!" She smiled pulling her hair from her face. The brown matched mine to a tee. Identical twins are rare. Even more so when they have violet eyes. She smiled and I noticed the small dimples in the corners on her mouth. Her skin was always clearer then mine, healthier, brighter, glossier. My mother loved to do anything to tarnish it.
Elly pulled back leaving the crown on my head. She started pulling flowers to make another one.

My eyes flickered open. What a pleasant dream for a change. I glanced over to the clock on the wall and pulled myself off the couch. It was 3 in the morning. I pulled out my phone and canceled the alarm that was going to go off shortly and changed into work clothes. I felt good today. Maybe I'll be okay today despite everything.
I left quietly not wanting to wake Lucy up. It was dark outside as I walked under street lights. It didn't take long before I found myself at the cafe. I unlocked the door and turned on the lights on my way to the back office. I put my shit down and rolled up my sleeves. It was only 4, I don't open the cafe until 6. I walked to the front and turned on the till screens and put the pop tops back into place.
I finished everything I needed to by 5 and waited and hour in the back for Stella to arrive. She works here until noon and then she heads to the bar to work for Goliath. She seems to enjoy working for the two of us. I listened to music and played games on my phone until she showed up. She helped me unlock the doors and let the first waves of customers in.
At about 7 cooks and more staff arrived signaling me to head to the afterlife building. I moved to my office and sat down sighing. I opened the hidden drawer and pulled out the composition book. Flipping through it I looked at all the information I had collected about the Virtues. I took the book and left it on my desk closing the drawer. Today marks a week sense I've seen Puck. Today I have to deliver this book. I really wasn't looking toward to that.
Its all to find Elly. I just need to remember that. I sighed grabbing the book and putting it at the edge of my desk. I should do some things Lucy asked of me before I head out. I worked until about noon before letting her know I had to run an errand. I grabbed the book and headed towards the elevator. I tried to avoid everyone as best I could as I walked out in front of the lobby. I successfully avoided people as I started my way down towards the subway. It is only a 20 minuet walk to the address I was given but I wanted to get back to work ASAP.
