Chapter Nine (POV : E) ~ Playground

I almost felt bad, that guy who works under Lucy almost got nocked over and I didn't apologize... it didn't even occur to me until we got home. Ark normally leaves late but today we left early. He said he had plans to do something with me tonight so he took the afternoon off! He's so nice sometimes! I bounced though the front door of his house. The place was huge for being in the city and it could hold a whole family. It was only Ark and I living here tho. The place seemed very quiet.

"What did you have planed for today!?" I asked setting my bag of papers on the couch. I flopped onto the throw pillows in the corner.

"It's a surprise I'm afraid. You will just have to wait until I'm ready to head out." He smiled softly at me and I smiled back.

"Okay!" I grab a few papers from my bag before running upstairs to my room. Ark took me in a long time ago. I've been living in this room for so long I could tell you where everything single thing is with my eyes closed. With my actually parents being who knows where, Ark acts as my dad. I've actually even grown a bit under his care. It's slow but he said I'm probably about 16 now. I don't know a lot of things about myself. I have horrible memory loss so I don't remember a single thing about my living life. I take medicine for depression. They help me feel human.

I closed the door to my room and took my mask off. I whipped out the inside with a cleaning rag to remove all the sweat and I washed my face in the attached bathroom.

Did I mention Ark is pretty freaking wealthy.

I had a large sized room with an attached bathroom and a walk in closet which I never used. The room was a pale yellow color and blue counter balanced the decorations. I had a large window that led to a balcony. It was so nice to sit out there and read.

I set my mask on my wardrobe and pulled out my journal. I wrote the date and wrote down everything that had happened. I ended with a signature as always and snapped the book closed. I put it back in its place and flopped down into my bed. I could feel the warmth from my sweater starting to go down as I relaxed and felt myself
sink into the comforter. My mind clear and calm I listened to the birds chirping outside. I always get to the building so early and leave so late that hearing birds is a nice treat.

I moved my hand slowly feeling the pressure of the sheets under my bandaged hand. I'm not hurt or anything. I'm just not supposed to show skin or anything that could reveal my identity while I'm outside the house. Ark used to be okay with me going out and doing what ever I wanted but recently he's asked me to hide myself. I've thought about asking why but I always forget and never get the chance to. My neck, hair, and forearms are always wrapped up and I always wear my jacket, jeans, and mask so it's impossible to read what I look like.

I think having my hair wrapped is cool! I've always liked the appearance of bandages so I don't mind. It can get hot after awhile but I always find a way to cool down.

I almost fell asleep self monologuing but A knock on my door woke me up.

"Come in!" I said. The door slowly swung open and Ark took a step in. He had changed out of his work clothes, which were more formal, and into an old pair of jeans and a t-shirt. In his hand was a covered, woven basket. He smiled at me as I sat up. He pushed his glasses back into there normal place and he cleared his throat. I stood up.

"I'm ready to head out if you are." Joy radiated off me. I grabbed my mask and bounced out the room moving past Ark. I slipped the mask on and turned to face him.

"Where are we going?!" He gave me a sly smile and put his hands in his pockets.

"Somewhere, you'll see when we get there!" I huffed impatient. Ark chuckled a bit. "Your such an expressive kid." He began walking down the hall and to the large stairs. I followed and we left the house. Surprisingly we were headed to the subway station. Ark has a vehicle but he almost never drives. He prefers to walk the scenic route.
