Chapter 16 ~ Two Confessions in Two Days?! #SHOOK

Even though I woke up in Alec's arms this morning, I still had to go to study hall to finish my essay because I left my flash drive at school yesterday. In the library, I tap as fast as my short, tiny fingers would allow, wanting to finish this today and not worry about it later.

Half a page left to go, I heard a familiar voice greet me.

"Good morning, Adrienne." Even though I knew exactly who that voice belonged to, I still looked up. I was greeted by a smiling Kai whose hazel eyes were glittering and his brown-orange hair was swept to the side.

"Morning, Kai." I smile back at him as he takes a seat beside me.

"What are you working on?" He asks as he takes a quick glance at my screen.

"Ms. Marten's ELA essay." I answer, my eyebrows furrowing as I try to remember where I left off on.

"Here, right there." Kai says as he points at a spot on my rough draft.

"Oh, thanks." I thank him then went back to working on my essay. Not even 3 full minutes of silence past before Kai talks again.

"I'm sorry."

"For what?" I ask without looking back at him. Instead, I continue typing my final draft. I only had a couple more sentences to go, and I was typing as fast as my miniature hands would allow me.

"For hurting you. Every time I hurt you my heart aches. I'm so sorry, Adrienne." Kai whispers. I stop typing and face him.

"You shouldn't be sorry." I whisper, smiling sadly as I notice the sadness in Kai's warm eyes. I was close enough to see the flecks of green, brown, and gold mixed in his eyes.

"But I am. All I do is hurt you, Adrienne." Kai whispers, taking my hands into his.

"I just need to know why you left two years ago." I mumble. I look down at his hand wrapped around mine, missing that familiar feeling of warmth. Without saying anything, Kai rests his forehead against mine like he was a rabbit and he was apologizing.

"I promise I-" Whatever Kai was going to say I would never know. He was cut off by the homeroom bell, telling us that we should be in homeroom in 10 minutes or we'll be counted late.

"Shit." I curse under my breath as I realize that I haven't finished my essay and had to finish typing it after school. I stand up and began to pack up my stuff, going as quick as I can since I still had to talk to Alec about yesterday.

After I finished packing up my things, I logged off of the computer I was using and swung my backpack onto my shoulder. Before I could even take a step, a hand touches mine ever so gently. I look down and see Kai resting his hand on mine with a solemn look displayed on his face.
