chapter 29 ~ spring fling, bling bling
Not even five minutes after entering the venue, I had already lost Kai. It was like he was holding my hand one second and then the next, some dude bumped into me, and he was gone.
I mean, it wasn't like he had to stay by my side all night or something. He wasn't my date or anything. He just gave me a ride... yeah?
Realizing that Kai was now somewhere among the sea of students, and Mia and Tyler were probably in some corner making out, I started retreating to the one place all the loners and stoners hang out: the refreshments table!
As I maneuver my way through the crowd of already sweaty bodies, an arm suddenly wraps around my waist without my warning.
"Hey, cutie." I was about to bitch-slap the stranger to a whole other planet before I realized that it was just Walter.
"Walter, don't do that. You scared the crap out of me." I pout.
"Sorry, sweetheart. Got too excited when I saw a familiar face." He smiles his typical crooked smile.
"So... can you move your arm or- ?" I suggest when I realize that his arm was still wrapped around my waist.
"In normal circumstances, I would absolutely love to. However, when I'm trying to make the guy I like jealous, some touching has to be involved." Walter smirks.
"Ooh, a guy! Can I know his name?" I ask.
"Hm... maybe if you help me make him jealous, yeah?" He offers.
"Sure!" I agree naively. It's not everyday you're asked to help someone out with their crush. Plus, Walter wasn't interested in me, or even women in general. No harm was going to be done.
"Come on, let's go dance!" Walter chirps, snatching my arm and pulling me to the dance floor. We weave through the crowd of sweaty bodies until we reach an opening on the dance floor.
"Neon pink tiles. Could they be any more original?" I joke, making a face at the make-shift dance floor. Laughing at my remark, Walter lets go of my arm.
For the next twenty minutes, Walter and I dance, busting out our best moves. At one point, Walter was deadass on the floor doing the worm. We were dancing with everything we got until, suddenly, the EDM music cut off and a slow song turned on. All around us, a chorus of cheers and moans were heard.
