ADRIENNE
Chapter 26 ~ Kinda Irrelevant but Okay

"It's about Alec."

"Can we at least settle down before we mention his dumb name?" I complain. Mia gives me a weird glance then closes her bedroom door.

We dropped our backpacks on top of Mia's bed. Then, we collapsed on her couch.

"Okay, remember when I told you I had to talk to you? Before the whole hallway confession scene?" Mia starts.

"Yeah." I reply, vaguely remembering Mia telling me that we had to talk before things went downhill. We never had time to talk about it.

"It's about Alec."

"I'm well aware now."

"Wednesday morning, I overheard Alec going off on Sasha. Basically Alec was telling her to stop being so clingy and always around her. I think he broke off whatever the hell he had with her." Mia states, determination in her jade eyes.

"It doesn't matter anymore." Is all I say.

"But that means-"

"Can we not talk about that dickhead?" I sigh. I knew that she was expecting me to be happy, but I couldn't be after what he said last time.

"Girl, I'm so sorry." Mia apologizes.

"Don't be. It's not your fault. Let's just watch a movie."

"I'll get the snacks, you pick out a movie." Mia heads downstairs to get the popcorn and candy while I look through her movie collection.

Despite showing no interest in what Mia said, it still intrigued me.

Throughout the entire movie (The Greatest Showman, Mia's all-time favorite), I couldn't help but overthink.

Hey, anyone else would, too.

If what Mia said was true, and Alec did in fact break off their relationship, then why the hell was he looking for her this morning? As far as I'm aware, the conversation she explained seems serious, so why would they still be talking?

And why didn't he stop her from kissing him?

I woke up to a soft ray of light shining from the glass window. A Disney blanket covered my body as I was sprawled out on Mia's couch.

"Morning, girl!" Mia chirps, her voice still a little raspy. She was always a morning person, someone who could get through the day with minimal sleep and no coffee.

"Good morning." I groan out. In a way, I hated Mia's bubbly yet badass personality; especially in the morning.

"Breakfast is already ready! And by breakfast, I mean hash browns and breakfast sandwiches from McDonald's." Mia chuckles.

"Shut up." I mumble.

"Okay, I'm done being nice. Get yo' ass off my couch before I dump water on you, you bum." She retorts.

"Okay, okay, I'm up. There better be coffee, by the way." I say. I stretch my arms out after I sit up.

"Of course there's coffee. Let's go, girl." Mia answers. Unlike me, she was already dressed in a beige sweater and dark blue jeans. Her flaming hair was pulled back into a hastily done ponytail.
