Chapter 22 ~ Less Friendly, More Romantic, and Even More Jealous
Lectures.
Something everyone hates.
Especially when it's something the teacher has repeated so many times.
To the point where I can recite at least half of it.
Which is exactly why it's understandable and pretty reasonable that I wasn't thinking about anything Mr. Dray was saying at all. Instead of absorbing in his lecture about why we should always pay attention in class, I was too busy thinking about what happened last night.
Or more specifically, what happened after the infamous action last night.
It was a mess honestly.
After finishing dessert, we decided to watch a movie together. Since Aiden was a 6-year-old disaster waiting to happen in a car print suit, my mom had to put him to bed. When she left to go put him to sleep, Alec's mom decided to wash the dishes. Before I knew it, Alec pulled me away from the kitchen and into the living room, where we were alone.
"What's up?" I ask casually, hoping that my calm composure would show that his actions didn't affect me at all. Alec, looking irritated, let out a small grunt before answering.
"You know I like you right?"
"Uh... yeah?" I stutter, ignoring how my heart skipped a beat or two at Alec's confession.
"Well, I do. I like you more than friends, Adrienne." Alec confesses coolly. I hated how I was internally freaking out while Alec was as cool as a cucumber.
"What's the catch?" I respond. Knowing him there was always a catch. There was no way he could be this freaking casual about it without a hidden intention.
"But we can't be more than friends."
Of-freaking-course.
I mean, what did I expect? For him to ask me out? Psh, nah.
"Why not?" However, my mouth betrays me.
"Because-"
"Alec? Adrienne? Where are y'all?" Mrs. Raux calls. The once moment I had to find out what I've been looking for was ended when Mrs. Raux called us back into the dining room. Taking a deep breath, I dropped the subject and returned to the dining room with Alec.
