ADRIENNE
Chapter 24 ~ The Aftermath of the DisasterDid I love Alec?
The answer is: I don't know.
Maybe I did love him at one point, but all his mixed signals played with my head. But right now?
No, I don't love Alec.
Which is probably why I had to leave him yesterday.
Because I couldn't handle breaking his already broken heart.
Which would end up breaking my fragile one.

Thursday came by way too fast. In fact, this entire week was just a blur of events. The dinner was Monday night, reconnecting with Walter was Tuesday, and whatever the hell yesterday was was Wednesday.
So much had happened this week that I honestly needed a break.
Hoping I wouldn't see Alec today, I changed into a plain t-shirt and jean shorts and left the house.
When I arrived at school, I couldn't help but feel that people were staring at me more than usual. I tried to shake that icky feeling away, but it stayed.
I entered homeroom a couple of minutes before the bell rang. I walked to the back and sat at a desk in the middle row, somewhere different from where I usually sat. Not even 5 minutes later, I couldn't help but eavesdrop on a conversation between 2 girls in front of me. It wasn't my fault that they were kinda loud and kept shooting me quick glances.
"Oh my god, isn't that the girl?" The one on the right whispered to her friend. She had blond hair pulled back to a ponytail. She tried to be sneaky and point at me, but I saw it. Her brown haired friend turned to look at me quickly, then looked back.
"I think that is! Doesn't she always sit with him, too?" The brunette whispers back to her friend. They both chuckle afterwards.
"But why would she even do that?" The first one questions.
"Maybe he wasn't good in bed!" The other one chirps. They both explode into hyena-sounding laughter.
It didn't take a genius to figure out that they were talking about Alec and me.
"Impossible!"
"Why would she even think about turning him down?"
"I know. Who would turn the Alec Raux down? She must be out of her mind!" The girl on the right sneers. Before I could fire back a response, someone else does.
"Maybe because he's a dick." The 2 girls and I all look up to see a not-very-happy Kai standing there.
"I'm sorry, did we ask?" One of the girls sneer out, glaring daggers at Kai.
"You want to hook up with him, don't you?" Kai asks. My chest stings when he says that.
"It'll be a dream come true." One of them smiles.
"Well sucks to be you because bimbo isn't his type." Kai shrugs. Leaving 2 furious thots behind, he walked back and sat next to me.
"Thanks." I smile appreciatively.
