Chapter 41 ~ What Would it take for this Happiness to Stay?
ADRIENNE
"I say this every time, but today was a lot of fun, Raux." I smile. It was Thursday night: 2 days before prom and Alec and I had just gone on another friendly date.
"I'm glad you had fun." Underneath the light of the nearby street lamp, Alec was practically glowing. Feeling extremely giddy all of a sudden, I stare up at him.
"My god, you're absolutely gorgeous." His statement came out breathless.
"Stop complimenting me, or else I'll become a tomato." I say. Unfortunately for me, I could already feel the heat rising to my cheeks.
"You're gorgeous no matter what you are." He smiles. Damn him for being so charming.
"How come sometimes you're showering me in compliments, but the other times you're teasing the hell out of me?" I question.
"It depends on my mood." He grins cheekily.
"Of course it does." I mumble.
"So, can I drop you off tonight?" He asks. Since I had a volunteering event I had to attend right before our friendly date, I decided to walk rather than drive. It seemed like a great idea to get some fresh air and exercise, but now, I was stuck with no choice but to either catch a ride from Alec or walk back home.
"Yes, please." I say. Alec responds with a nod.
Soon, we had located Alec's car in the dark parking lot. In just a couple minutes, we were already on the way back home. My phone, located in one of my back pockets, vibrated, so I decided to take it out to see why.
MIA: Girl, sleepover at my house NOW!!!
ADRIENNE: but I don't have my stuff??? PLUS, we're already meeting up tomorrow for prom dress shopping
MIA: EXACTLY! We're prom dress shopping together tomorrow, so why not get a head start and hang out with me before?
ADRIENNE: usually I would agree, but I'm exhausted. we both know that we never get sleep during sleepovers
MIA: No buts! I have spare clothes for you, we can share my bed, and I already ordered two large pizzas and two pints of ice cream! After we gossip and snack until we can no longer snack, we'll pass out from exhaustion, and it'll be great.
