Chapter 23 ~ It's Too Late
The car ride was so awkward that it took me at least 5 minutes to think of what to say and 5 minutes to actually summon enough courage to speak it. But I did.
"Want some peanut butter with that jelly?" I ask irritably. I couldn't help but roll my eyes as I said that.
"What?" His response was much over predicted, but by the way his grip tightened on the steering wheel, I knew that he heard me and understood me perfectly fine.
"That jealousy was a bit over the top, don't you think? It's not like we're dating or anything." I chuckle maliciously.
"Of course we're not dating!" Alec objects, maintaining his tight grip on the steering wheel and his focus on the road so we don't end up in a ditch.
"I meant Walter and me." I flat out state, giving him a hard stare.
"Y-yeah, that's what I meant." Alec stutters out, clearly embarrassed from his mistake. Even though I knew that he couldn't see me, I still rolled my eyes.
"Sure, you did."
"I did!" He objects.
"All I'm saying is that you have absolutely no reason to be mad at Walter." I contend.
"Walter this, Walter that. How come this is my first time hearing his name, and I've heard his name way too many damn times in the past fucking day?!" Alec rants angrily.
"And?" I fire back, just as angrily.
"All I'm saying is that in the past 8 hours, you've talked about him way too damn much. It's like you're fucking obsessed with him!" He explodes.
"Um, excuse me? Just because I talk about him doesn't mean I'm obsessed with him! In my defense, I haven't seen him in awhile, and I just got to reconnect with him so chill! You don't even have a reason to hate him!" I defend. This kid was really getting onto my nerves.
"I do!"
"Then what is your reason to hate him, hm?" I inquire.
