On with this chapter!
By the time this memory takes place, we're almost out of college.
We were sitting in the commons of the college, and we were waiting for our classes to begin. Instead of being in one dorm, we decided to meet in the middle where all the students here went to hang out. My phone started ringing suddenly, and the number was unknown.
I looked over at you and you shrugged, telling me it was my call. I sighed and pressed the answer button before bringing the phone to my ear.
"Hello?"
"Oh, hello." The voice on the other end was deep, so I assumed it was a boy. And from the way your eyebrows raised, I knew you'd heard and you were thinking the same thing.
"Who is this?"
"Um, it's obviously the man of your dreams." I heard giggling on the other end, and I knew instantly that it was a prank call. But when I saw your face, the way you had reacted to what he said made me answer him instead of hanging up.
"Is that so?"
"Yeah. Crazy, right?"
"Oh, yeah. Totally. So, man of my dreams, why'd you call just now?"
There was a pause on the other end. "I have a few things I need to say to you."
"Well, continue, then."
"Okay. I'm no electrician, but I can light up your day. I'm pretty sure you're a time traveler, because I sure do see you in my future..." the boy on the other end kept going with pick-up lines and I started to smile, and laugh even, when he said, and I know, it was probably the worst out of them all, "Are you the cure for Alzheimer's? Because you are unforgettable," you grabbed my phone from my hand and started talking to the person on the other end.
"You can stop now, she's too busy to listen to your dramatics. Oh, yeah, and she's taken. So let me light up your day. This girl right next to me is the best person on this Earth. I love her with my entire being, and your cliche' pick-ups kind of make me want to hurl. This girl deserves the ground you're standing on, alright? So, if you could do me a huge favor, buddy, and refrain from calling this number again, I'd really appreciate that. Thanks."
"Oh, I'm really sorry, um, I didn't know. I shouldn't have-"
You cut the boy off before he could finish. "You're right. You really shouldn't have. Bye!" You hung up the phone abruptly and sighed, tossing it onto my lap before you leaned back in your seat and put your legs up on the ottoman in front of us.
I snorted. "Were you getting jealous?"
You turned to look at me with the most serious face. "Of course I was."
I laughed and scooted closer to you. "Don't be, idiot. But you should use some of the dude's lines sometime, they made me feel special."
"But you love me more, right?"
I sighed and pretended to think about it. "I mean, I guess so."
"What can I do to make that 'I guess' into an 'Absolutely!'" By the tone of your voice, I knew you could tell I was joking.
"Like I said before, just tell me some horrible corny pick-up lines."
You saluted and said, "Yes ma'am!"
I laughed and got up, stretching. "I have to go to class."
You sighed, standing up to kiss me before I left. When I was released from your embrace, you said, "I love you."
I smiled and grabbed my bag off the floor before answering. "I love you more than I'll ever love anyone."
When I turned away, I could feel your eyes on me, and I could practically see the smile I knew you were wearing as I pulled the door open and stepped out into the heat.
