And so the drama is here. But don't worry, it is short lived. Life will go on for our favorite couple. :)
Onwards!
We were sitting on the couch with a half-eaten pizza on the wood coffee table in front of us when my phone rang.
It was from an unknown number, but I figured it could have been someone from the lab who needed me for something. I grabbed the remote and paused the movie before I pressed the answer button and put the phone up to my ear.
"Hello?"
"Amelia," the voice on the other end said, and it immediately sent chills down my spine with the word it said.
I looked over at you frantically, and you slid closer and held you head to the side so you could try and hear what my father was saying. "What do you want? And don't call me Amelia." I took the phone away from my ear and put it on speaker so we could both hear it.
My father sighed on the other end. "I think I'll always call you Amelia, dear. But, back to the point, I hear you're getting married."
I straightened up. "How?"
I could practically see my father rolling his eyes. "You ask too many questions. But I do believe that your ex-boyfriend's family has been spreading the news."
"Excuse me? What do you mean by ex?"
My father laughed loudly. "Oh, dear! You're marrying him? That boy from high school?"
I saw you tense next to me, and for some reason, that was what set me off.
I stood up so fast that you jumped a little. "Okay, listen here. He's the boy who took a chance on me. He's the one who cared enough to love me. Not you. This man, right here," I paused and searched around, looking for your beautiful eyes until they were staring straight back at mine. "I love him with all my heart. And I can't say the same for you."
"Amelia, you don't mean that. You say it because you are mad. And I understand."
My brows furrowed in confusion. "You do?"
My father's bellowing laugh sounded from the speaker, and I had to hold the phone a little ways away until he calmed down. "No, I really don't. Love is the reason I married your mother. Love is the reason we had kids. But love is what ruined us. You can't honestly think that you'll have a happy life, do you? You'll kill your kid just like she killed hers."
I could feel tears forming. Both tears of sadness and anger. "I'm. Not. My. Mother," I forced out through gritted teeth.
"Not technically," he agreed. "But you have her very blood running through your veins. Don't say I didn't warn you."
And with that, the line went dead and I swallowed back the tears that were getting ready to form.
"Don't listen," you whispered as I came and sat down on the couch, putting my head on your shoulder.
I sighed, leaning up to kiss the corner of your mouth. "He still thinks that I'll turn out just like her."
"But you know you won't, right? You aren't doubting that like you used to?"
I shook my head. "I am not my mother," I answered forcefully.
You smiled a little and then scooted me closer to you. "What do you say we finish Camp Rock 2?"
I laughed and grabbed the remote from behind me, unpausing the movie so we could finish off one of the greater movies of Disney's collection.
"I say we do," I answered, "but I want to pick the next movie."
I hope you all enjoyed this chapter! Sorry I haven't updated in a while, I just wanted to create a little suspense. Hope you enjoyed this chapter!
