I'm so sorry it took this long to update! I lost my outline and couldn't find it. I had all the chapters written down that I had left on that page, and I looked for three days and could not find it. I finally decided that I needed to write the last chapter outlines out again, but I was procrastinating doing it because there was some part of me saying that it would never be as good as the original. So, I hope you still enjoy it! Also, @gracie_917, THAT thing will still be happening. I hope you know what I'm talking about. If not, just message me. : )
Onwards!
The wedding was fast approaching. We had everything planned out, and we were going to exchange vows in four days. The leaves were just beginning to turn yellow and orange and red, and every once in a while one would fall to the ground where the grass was still green. I smiled and took a deep breath before picking up a pen and placing it on the piece of paper in front of me so I could start writing the vows I was supposed to have finished a week ago.
I let my mind think of where it wanted the direction of my words to go, and then I opened my eyes and began to write the words that told how I felt about you.
Do you remember the day when we first said 'I love you' to each other? I do. I remember it so well, and I'm sure I would even if my memory wasn't so sharp. I remember the way the breeze would shake in the trees slightly, moving your hair. I remember the way the sunlight hit your face perfectly, giving your eyes this extra sparkle as you looked at the ground and picked a flower to give to me. I remember the way your grand speech rolled off your tongue, the exact words you said as you presented me with the ring I wear around my neck on a chain. You said, 'I'm not ready for marriage. But I'm ready to promise it to you.' But we are ready now, aren't we? I sure am. I'm ready to call you husband, and I'm ready to hear you call me wife.
I knew the words hadn't been perfect, but you were the one who was good with the grand gestures anyways.
"What are you writing?" You asked, coming into the kitchen and grabbing an apple out of the fridge.
I jumped. "Nothing, I just finished." I smiled at you and clicked the pen closed, taking the paper and folding it up before sliding it into the pocket of my shorts so you wouldn't come over to read it.
"Please don't tell me those are your-"
"Would you look at the time! We better get to bed, right?"
"You were supposed to write those, like, six days ago!" I knew you were trying to sound upset, but the small smile that you were trying to hide gave you away.
"I don't do things on time, babe. You know this. I work best last-minute."
You raised an eyebrow at the innocent look I gave you. You kept your eyes trained on mine, and I didn't let up, either.
Finally, you chuckled, looking away and blinking hard. "You have to have those memorized, like, yesterday."
I nodded. "I'll have them memorized two days ago."
You laughed. "You're impossible sometimes."
I thought back to my vows and the day I wrote it about. "Oh, well. You promised," I smiled, shrugging my shoulders.
Your face contorted into one of confusion. "Promised what, exactly?"
I knew I should have just told you that you promised to marry me. But instead, I said again, "You promised," and then walked out of the room leaving you there to wonder about what I was holding you to.
