Hey, guys! It's your loving author! Make sure you pay attention to the time jump!

Two years after you had convinced my dad to let me stay in Portland, we were hanging out in my backyard, enjoying the nice summer air. It was a little humid out, but when the breeze picked up it was perfect.

"Can you believe we'll never go back to that school again?"

I sighed and picked a blade of grass from the ground before answering your question. "Honestly- not really. But, that's a good thing, right?"

"It really depends on how you look at it."

I nodded in agreement. We were silent for a while. Suddenly, I heard footsteps hitting concrete. I checked the time. 11:32. It was the mailman.

I got up and dusted myself off before heading out front. "Good morning, Mr. Adams!" I greeted. "Anything interesting?"

The mailman turned to look at me and smiled. "I told you, Jerry is fine. And yes, there just may be a very interesting letter in your mailbox." Jerry turned his attention to someone behind me. "And I believe that there just may be something in yours, too."

You came up to stand beside me. "Really?"

Jerry nodded. "Well, congratulations, kids. I'm off to finish delivering!"

"Bye, Jerry!"

When he was gone, I opened the mail to see that there was one thing in it- addressed to me. From the University of Carolina. It felt thick, which I took as a good sign. "Go check your mail," I whispered, and I heard you run across the street, open your mailbox, and then jog back over to me. "Did you get one from Carolina, too?"

I glanced up to see you nod.

We headed inside my house and found scissors, cutting our packages open.

"We'll look on the count of three, okay?" I could hear your voice shaking. I nodded, and you counted. "One...two...three."

I flipped my letter open and you did too. I scanned over the words. The first one being Congratulations.

I got in.

I got in!

I looked over at you to see you smiling, looking at me hopefully. I nodded and jumped into your arms, laughing. "We're going to Carolina, aren't we?"

I felt you nod and kiss the top of my head. "We're going to Carolina."

We sat there for a while longer in each other's embrace before I put my legs down to the ground. "Now we don't have to do long distance."

You nodded. "We can see each other every day. I don't have to talk to you through a screen. I can tell you 'I love you' in person every day."

"We can be together."

"I love you," you whispered.

"I'll always love you."
