I don't know what's wrong with me. I'm updating AT A NORMAL TIME. It's weird, man.
Onwards!
"Emlyn, hey!"
"What's up girl! I'm glad you called! It's been like, three weeks!"
"I know! Can you come down to Florida for the weekend?"
I could almost see the look of confusion that would be on her face through the phone. "Well, sure, if you want me to. Any special occasion happening?"
I grinned widely just thinking about what her reaction would be. "I'm getting married."
Emlyn's response was immediate, and not at all what I had expected. "Finally. He was supposed to, like, three weeks ago."
"What?"
"Yeah. Anyways, I'd better book a flight. See you."
Emlyn hung up without another word. I scoffed and smiled. Of course, you would have told her. I texted you, knowing if I didn't say anything now I would forget by the time you got back from the grocery store.
You are such an idiot.
What did I do this time?
I can't believe you told Em.
She's like your sister.
Yeah, well now she's coming down for a little. She's going to help me with some wedding stuff.
The cake is going to be our thing, right?
Duh.
After that, I texted Emlyn.
Have you found out when the next flight is?
Yeah.
Well, are you going to tell me??
Let's just say I'll see you in three hours : ) Boarding now. Goodbye hometown, hello Florida!
I was beyond shocked at this. Excited, absolutely, but glancing around our house, I knew that I had some cleaning up to do.
I started upstairs, heading to the guest room that she'd be using, the one she used the other time she came down to see our house. After I did that, I cleaned the kitchen, then the living room, and then when you got home, I made you do the bathroom and dining room while I made supper.
And we still had one hour until Emlyn would be knocking on our door. That, or barging in without warning because that's who she is.
When she did show up, she chose to announce herself by the latter.
I heard the door slam closed and then she was running through the house, her footsteps getting louder as she made her way to where we were watching Nickelodeon. "You two are children."
I scoffed but stood up to hug her tightly anyway. "You're just overly mature. Have you eaten?"
You shook your head.
"Well, you know where the fridge is. I think there's pizza in there from like, last night."
"Score!" Emlyn dropped her luggage and ran to find the food.
I laughed, and you picked up her big suitcase while I grabbed the smaller one. "She calls us children." You and I took her things up to the room she'd be in, and when we came back down, you asked her something that I didn't even think of.
"Why did you pack so much for two days?"
"Because I decided that I'd be living with you freaks for a week instead."
You laughed. "Did you just invite yourself, or was this planned between you two?" You gestured toward Em and me, and I shrugged.
Emlyn dropped the half-eaten slice she had been holding onto a plate and walked over to you, patting your head. "Do you have amnesia? Let me refresh your brain. Hi, I'm Emlyn. We've met before, but in case you forgot, I don't ask permission. I just do it."
I laughed as you pushed her away from you and walked out of the room with a light chuckle escaping your lips along with an "It'd be hard to forget you, you freak."
Emlyn grinned widely. "I love how he pretends to hate me when he secretly loves me."
I narrowed my eyes, jabbing a finger in the direction that you left from. "He loves me more."
"Well, duh."
