C h a p t e r 43: Never Forget

She passed next to him in the school hall without noticing him. He was taken back by her perfume scent that followed her as she walked, her head down and her dark circles are obvious under her eyes.

He wanted to call after her and walk together to class, but the hall got filled fast with students coming from everywhere.

Declan's jaws tighten as he felt his heart contracts and breaks at the sight of the broken Valencia walking past him. Every day, she was getting worse and every second it was becoming harder for him to confess his feelings. She had better things to think of. She won't give him an honest true answer.

The sad flower that was blooming in his heart was dancing on sad rhythms of her late night sobs, dancing on the pain and sorrow he was feeling through her. She deserved to feel happy. She deserved better.

He thought that by leaving her alone, he was giving her what she needs but little did he know that those who are going through life struggles don't need to be alone or feel alone even if they say so. They're screaming for help where they lost their voices.

And oh how much she hoped for him to try harder... a simple I love you would've changed a lot, even if she didn't share his feelings

"And now Raymond can't stop crying even though he's cleaned and he ate before I put him to sleep."

Ethan kept silent during the whole conversation, mainly because he knew whatever he would say won't help with anything.

But as Raymond was mentioned, he was waiting until his friend finish speaking before he says whatever he was going to say.

"Zack, can I go see the baby?" he asked unsure if he'd let him. Thomas exchanged looks with him but didn't complain.

Zack looked uncertain not understanding his suggestion. "Bro, you remember what is my studies' speciality right? I'm getting my diploma this month to officially become a paediatrician."

"You can let him go check on him." Thomas added, standing up and following Ethan.

Zack looked at them confused. "Do you... like... know each other?"

"We'll talk about this later."

Dylan looked confused as she showed him all kind of expressions of betrayal.

"What why? Babe, are you okay?"

"I've been here for five years Dylan... five years... for something I didn't do. How could you do the same to someone else? She must had someone to love, someone who cares out there... you helped separating her from her own blood and her other half of her soul... how could you participate in all things that ruined our lives when they happened to us?"

He was about to speak but she cut him. "Tell me... what are you owned to?"

Dylan sighed and stood up. Still holding the phone next to his ears, he whispered: "I'm owned to many things at the moment, lies, life, liberty and mostly loneliness. I'm sorry Lilli. You're the only one left for me in this life and I'll do anything to be with you again."
