Uta watched as Jane brushed through her thick brown hair, letting it fall onto her shoulders neatly while she silently assessed herself. The both of them didn't exactly know how to approach last night and Uta knew it wasn't going to be sunny forever. He would have no reason to hide his eyes. Returning them to his usual black irises would rid the ghoul of all sight. He couldn't do that, return to the dark where many strangers lie.

When he looked up, he caught Jane staring at him through the reflection. He was so caught in the daunting thought that he didn't witness the sweetest smile curl against her lips.... And it was all for him. Her eyes looked Uta's way without wavering, knowing she was going to stay before she even knew herself.

Therefore, when she pulled the top half of her hair up, Uta captured her waist in a tight hug. He could hear Jane's heartbeat, feel the rise and fall of her breathing. He could feel her fingers raking through his blonde hair. Jane drank in his whole presence with a desire that itched at her chest. The raw sensation of having him beside her seemed unbelievable, she was unable to comprehend his want for her. After all, Jane only saw herself as average; below that on the odd day.

"Do you have to go?" Uta moaned into the crook of her neck, breaking the peaceful silence.

"I can't miss school. You know about my sister".

However, at her words Uta only untucked her white shirt before running his hands against the hot expanse of her skin. She was struggling to release a mewl of pleasure as he did so, leaving a path of cold among her flesh which contradicted the heat of her body greatly. Jane was being played into the palm of his hand and all she wanted to do, was let go.

"Not-" She pried his hands from her, "-today. Don't you have any masks to make?",

"Only one for Yomo",

"Yomo... Is that the friend from the other time?" She questioned while tucking in her shirt and rolling her skirt... This didn't go unnoticed by Uta.

Out of avoiding the conversation and any competition, he circled her to return the skirt to its natural length, hiding everything above her knee.

"Don't wear a skirt so short. Y'know kids your age can be total perverts. I'll make sure everyday you're in school with the length exactly as it should be-",

"Did you just do that to change the subject over your friend?"... She caught him.

"Not really...",

"But, that doesn't mean no.... I wanna meet your friends Uta and possibly your fam-",

"I don't have any family" he interrupted with a hiss. And he expected the frail girl to flinch away, or at least have a frown upon her face. However, she looked to him with a smile.

"Well... I guess I'll be your family then" she announced.

"You can't possibly-",

"Why not? I've already risked death by my sister's hands for you-" she chuckled, "- Being there for you is what I want. And when I want something, you know I take it".

Uta dropped Jane at the school gate with her hand trapped in his own. And absolutely nothing could replace her heat. Therefore, he drank it in as he forced her to remain by his side for longer. People were staring but he honestly didn't care, instead he leaned his forehead against her own and took in a deep breath. He hadn't eaten in a month and her whole being was making his starvation grow stronger. He had already devoured his little play thing plus, Yomo was out of the ward for a few days on personal business. Everybody knew Yomo was the best hunter where Uta was just ultimately stronger.

"This is me!" Jane cheered with a wide smile, that is before she raised onto her toes and pecked his cheek.
"I'll see you tonight?",

"Of course, I'll be right here waiting for you",

"Great... I can't wait to get to know you better" she honestly announced. And with that, she skipped back into school to meet two others.

For a few moments, his body unwillingly froze to watch her enter, to make sure she was safe. Before finally, he was allowed to leave.

As he walked down the street, he noticed the odd stares he was receiving from other women. How instead of being intimidated, they searched for his eyes behind the tinted lenses. He did wonder what did it, what made everybody look his way...

That's when he noticed the smile
