Jane sat at the corner of her sofa, edged up against its arm while the black screen of Netflix loaded by. There wasn't anything she wanted to do and her phone was still collecting dust on her bedside table.
Despite her mum saying she looked okay and was fine. There was something nagging at the corner of her mind, nothing was normal yet they had to continue acting as if it was. Japan had certainly changed their little girl for the worse. She would wake up screaming a strange word, maybe a name but they weren't sure, they never knew. And when trying to comfort her, Jane would refuse all touch, saying it hurt but inside... She felt dirt. Like some monster had defiled her body and never would it be clean again. Uta didn't look like a demon, but he was one.
Therefore, when they found no success in aiding their daughter. They called her friend's to find even they were unable to break or scratch at the walls now built around the teen. She was in a world of her own that caged her from the trauma which haunted the daily news.
So, they came to their last solution. Rehabilitation, something a therapist had advised.
In seconds, Jane was taken from her living room kicking a scream to hell and back. Her hazel eyes were wide with fear and pleading which landed upon her parents.
"Help me! Please!" She screeched with what was left of her voice. However, her mum stood back into her husbands chest, unable to hold herself back from the painful wails escaping Jane's dry lips. But, the only help Jane could receive was from telling the truth, reliving that nightmare she witnessed in the ally near the station.
Damp, dark and dreary. Those were the thoughts which scoped the back of her mind. But, the thoughts that chose to come forward were the blood and the light touches that immediately became tearing at her flesh. Her whole body was at the mercy of his memory. Uta had left a brand of himself against her mind and hardly did she possess the hope of being rid of it.
She was trapped in a pool of shadows that slowly enveloped her with the weight of terror. Jane was slowly sinking, drowning amongst the screams of innocents. She was like most others, unable to contain the thoughts which sprouted from the earth of her emotion. The plant was a poison flower that hid its thornes so well until she bled a fear that resonated throughout her body.
Into the rapids of time she flowed, in and out of consciousness not knowing what was going to happen next.
Seeing her parents was like being underwater. She heard the muffled voices and sobs and saw the shaking of her mum's shoulders. However, nothing spurred an ounce of feeling. Jane was numb, entirely and completely. And no one could reach through the thick, blackness of her mind's sea and pull her from its depths. So instead, she floated and remained in limbo until days, weeks, months and years slowly drifted past her eyes.

Uta had changed. Years had gone by without a word from the small human. However, he could never forget. Instead, he threw away everything he knew in replacement for her sweet memory. His hair no longer held its blonde shine but was dark. He covered everywhere she touched with tattoos to mark him, to never forget the pleasure of his skin against hers.
I can neither live with you, nor without you
Is what his what one said. Not for her entirely but he had her in mind as the needles pressed against his skin. Even if his appearance proved intimidating, those he had surrounded himself with were quite the opposite. The ghouls of Anteiku were kind and generous. They would do nothing to harm the humans around them. He only would wonder once in a while if he was like them would she leave for England. However, he couldn't dwell on the past knowing he couldn't change a thing. At least, that is what Yoshimura had told him once upon a time.
Despite the older ghoul never meeting Jane, he had gathered her significance from the way Uta had spoke of the human teen. Sometimes, he did wonder just like Uta, even Yomo couldn't help himself. Without even speaking to the girl directly, from what his friend had told him she seemed nice enough.
Everything had changed since the fourth Ward. For the better or for worse... It had changed.
