Ugh!
Melanie turned and twisted in her bed but couldn't catch a glimpse of sleep. Her mind was occupied by the scene she witnessed earlier.
Many questions were clouding her head.
Who was the girl?
How was she related to Lucas?
Where is she now?
Did she leave? If yes then why?
Melanie wanted all the answers to those questions. The mystery was killing her.But she knew she shouldn't be sticking her nose where she wasn't needed. Her encounter with Lucas confirmed it.She had told him she will forget about the pictures she saw but she couldn't.
"Was she related to the 'incident' Maria was talking about? If she was,why were they hiding it?".
She ruffled her hair in annoyance and pulled the covera up."Thinking isn't going to help.Might as well just sleep"
A sigh escaped her lips as she closed her eyes. The sleep consumed her faster than she thought.Maybe she was tired but her curiosity was keeping her up.

"When will she leave?".
Melanie was occupying her regular seat on counter in the kitchen. She had woken up with the thoughts still buzzing in her head but she decided to push them aside for the time being. She had other problems in her hand.
For example, how to cool down her anger that was about to explode.
"Lady Annabelle is staying for dinner".Maria replied.
"Dinner?".Melanie asked with disbelief.
She watched the blonde laughing and clinging onto Lucas's arm whenever she got the chance. All her guilt was gone in a flash,if there was any.
Melanie tried to avoid her but she found her anyway.
"Oh Melanie! I am so sorry!".A fake guilty expressiom was plastered on her face as she pulled Melanie into a tight hug.She made a hidious puppy face which made Melanie throw up her whole breakfast.
"I hope you found it in your big heart to forgive me".She pouted.Melanie was surprised how fast she changed but she could see through all her lies.Melanie knew she didn't regret anything she said.
Holding grudges was never a thing for Melanie. She always found it in herself to forgive cousin when she used to bad-mouth her but no matter how hard she tried, she just couldn't forgive Annabelle. She hated everything about her.
"It's alright".Lie."I forgive you".She forced a smile.
"I knew you would!".With that, she was pulled into another tight hug.
Now Melanie was in the kitchen as she watched Annabelle through the kitchen's window who was in the living room. She knew she had not came to apologize to her but flirt with Lucas.
"I hate her".Melanie grumbled before turning towards Maria who was busy cooking.Maria let out a chuckle.
"She used to be different before.I guess time does change people".Said Maria."Or money".Added Melanie.
"Yeah that too".Maria agreed."But she didn't have the best childhood too.She was always taken care of by her nannies.I doubt her parents spent any time with her.Parent's absense sometimes does that to people".
Melanie looked over her shoulder at Annabelle who was now chatting with Mrs.Williams while waving her hands."Everyone have their own stories".She shrugged.
Maria hummed in agreement.
Melanie glanced at her, debating if she should ask what bothering her."What if she told Lucas about it? Can she be really trusted? Although she had gotten all friendly with me,but how strong is her loyalty to the Williams?".
"Lady Melanie?".
"Lady Melanie? Is something the matter?".Maria asked noticing her faraway look.A warmth filled Melanie chest at the genuine concern on Maria's face. She might not betray afterall but she wasn't going to take chances. She didn't want her friendship destroyed or damged.
Melanie shook her head."I am fine.Just thinking".
She will solve this mystery on her own without Lucas or anyone else finding out about it.
