Chapter 6

"Why?We aren't married yet!".Lucas said,exasperated."Her Uncle is moving with family to Chicago.A company has offered him a nice job".His mother told him,watering her flowers.

A loud sigh escaped his mouth."When is she arriving?".He asked,turning towards her with a frown on his face."Today".She replied."I already sent a driver to pick her up.She must be on her way".

"Fine".He took a deep breathe and continued."But we are not sharing a room".He said sternly."Ofcourse you are not...yet".She winked.

She ignored his annoyed look and stood up."She will be staying in the guest room.The one downstairs since it would be hard for her to use the stairs".

He internally groaned,rolling his eyes in the process."I am not hungry so don't call me for supper".He buried his hands in his  pockets of his jeans and walked away muttering under his breathe.

Melanie's lips curved upward at the sight of the mansion."I am actually going to live here!".She mentally shrieked.Although she had been here two times but the thought of her actually living here made her stomach flutter with excitement.

"We are here".The driver spoke,stopping the car infront of the doorway.She was too immersed in her excitement to reply.The drived stepped out and arrived at her side,opening her door for her.

"Thank you".She got out,smiling warmly at him.He grabbed her arm making sure she doesn't fall as she placed her crutches under her armpit.Once she was done,he let go.

Melanie carefully made her way up to the door.As if on cue,it opened revealing Mrs.Williams with a wide smile."Melanie".She approached her engulfing her in a hug."I have been waiting for you.Come on lets get inside".She led her in the house.

"Joseph carry her bags to the guest room".She told the butler that was waiting by the door."Yes Ma'am".He grabbed her bags and followed them."Is anyone home?".Melanie when she noticed the eerie silence.

"Lucas is in his room".She pointed at the door upstairs."Edward is at work.He has to stay late since he made Lucas stay at home for a week so he could spend some time with his fiancee".She gave a teasing look.

Melanie blushed and looked at the ring around her finger."What about Roseanne?".They stopped infront of a room whose door was wide open.Joseph the butler was placing her bags inside.

"She doesn't live with us".Mrs.Williams sighed."Her husband lives with his family and wanted her to as well".Melanie made a 'o' while nodding."This is your room".Mrs.Williams stepped aside to let her in.

A wide smile broke across her face."It's so big".It was nothing like her previous room.The one she had back at her Uncle's home was in the basement.She didn't complain,she couldn't.

She was grateful they considered letting her stay when it wasn't there responsibility.She never complained even when a large rat decided to make his home in one her room's corner or when she heard weird noises at night.

It was small with only a single bed and a wardrobe that covered most of the area.But this room,it was huge.There was a  large queen sized bed with red elegant sheets and a large T.V which was facing it.

Despite the wardobe,bed and T.V it was still spacy.It even had attached bathroom.Now she doesn't have to share it with someone and wait outside."Do you like it?".Mrs.Williams said making her look at her.

"No...I Love it!" She beamed causing Mrs.Williams to chuckle."I am glad you like.You can use it as you like.I'll leave to unpack-wait..do you need any help?".She asked eyeing Melanie's crutches.

Melanie shook her head."I will be fine".She replied."Alright if you say so.I will tell the maid to call you when supper is ready".She headed for the door."Okay".Melanie waited till she shut the door and jumped on the comfy bed,abandoning her crutches on the ground.

"This is so soft".She mumbled in the comforting pillow.
