Chapter 24

"You have a meeting at 10 with Mr.Glem Cabell.Did you prepare everything? ".

Lucas tried to answer his father while ignoring his mother's satisfied look. She had been giving him that look since he woke up and it was getting on his nerves.They were currently in his office and it was not the place where he wanted to have a discussion.

"Yes.I'll go over the contract with him".

"Alright,I'll leave you with your mother who clearly has something to say".

Lucas went to stand up to follow his father out but his mother pulled him back.He let out a sigh but obliged.He knew what she was going to say since she didn't bother hiding her excitement.He regretted announcing his wedding the moment it left his lips.His phone has been blowing up since morning and his face had been plastered on the news.The rich bachelor was getting married and everyone wanted in on the juicy details.

"So?".He looked over to his mother who was practically beaming in her seat.

"What?".He asked,annoyed.

"What do you mean what? Did you decide the date or should I?".

"Mom I'll let you know when I do".

"When? Do you know how much time it takes to get everything ready? I have to contact a wedding planner and get things like flowers,food,oh and don't forget the dresses and tuxedos".

"Yes mom I know how stressed you were during Roseanne's wedding.You were close to burning someone alive when the cake came in wrong".He rolled his eyes at the memory. It was really embarrassing to watch his mom screaming at everyone.

"Ofcourse you do.I will personally double check everything and not leave it upto those lousy planners. By the way I am choosing a different one for your wedding".She suddenly started clapping with excitement,startling Lucas."I can't believe my baby is finally getting married. I thought you were going to stay single all your life.Thank god I decided to take matters in my own hands".

Lucas glanced at the wall clock wishing the time to go faster so he can get away from his mom's rants.His phone began ringing and he picked it up to see Jasper's name. Aside from the reporters,his friend had been been calling him non stop demanding an explanation.

"Are you even listening? ".His mom asked.

"Mom can we do this later? I have a meeting to prepare for".He grabbed her arm and pulled her up to stand.

"Young man I need a confirmed date tonight and did you and Melanie talk about this? Does she agree with you on this? ".

"No we haven't".He pushed his mother out of his office.

"But-".

He successfully pushed her out and closed his door.He rubbed his temple, taking a seat behind his table as he was starting to have a headache.His engagement wasn't suppose to go public,they had all agreed to keep it a secret but now he was sure everyone knew about it.No one was suppose to know he had a fiancee and now it was all ruined because of his anger.He has always made rash decisions when he was angry and this one was the most he was regretting right now.

What was I thinking?

"You can't go in without an appointment!".His secretary shouted outside his door.

He lifted his head to see his door burst open and Jasper barged in.His usual styled red hair were messed up.His cheek was bruised,lip busted and was glaring at him.Lucas nodded to his secretary who was giving him an apologetic look.She mouthed sorry and rushed out.He sighed and opened his file for the meeting.

"You can't ignore me after what you did".He all but shouted,his Irish accent seeping in due to his anger.

"This is my work place.Keep it down unless you would like to be escorted out by the security".said Lucas,calmy.

Jasper cleared his throat,realising he was losing his cool.Fixing his jacket,he took a seat."I lost a golden offer because of you.You ruined my face! How am I suppose to model with a bruised cheek? ".

"No one told you to act like a jerk".He was in no mood of a conversation.He has successfully gotten rid of his mom but now his Irish friend decided to disturb his peace.

"I was drunk! I had to much to drink, okay? You could have gone easy on me considering I am your friend and she is-by the way who is she? Fiancee? Getting married? When did this all happen and why was I not told about it?".He went to rub his nose but let out a cursed due to the pain.

Lucas sighed again,staring at Jasper.He admit he did punch him a little hard since his hand was still throbbing even after icing it for hours but he deserved it.He was creating a scene and the attention was on Melanie which was the last thing he wanted.The ladies were also starting to get on his nerves by babbling on about how he got engaged for the fame.So,to shut everyone up he did the only thing that came to his mind,announcing his marriage.It was a dumb move and he knew it but it wouldn't have come to this point if it weren't for Jasper.

"Why are you glaring at me? I should be the one angry right now and you didn't answer my question.Who is this Melody?".Jasper leaned in only to be pushed back by Lucas.

"It's Melanie".He muttered.

"Woah! Did you just get annoyed at me for getting her name wrong? Is this for real? You even punched me for her,are you in love? You said you wouldn't,not after-".He stopped when he saw Lucas giving him a death glare.He mumbled an apology,shifting in his seat."But seriously what happened?".

"I have a meeting to prepare for.Can you leave? ".Lucas finally spoke up,clearly fed up of his friend's rant and questions.

"Okay,ouch.I didn't even get an apology and you are trying to get rid of me".He huffed,offended.He stood up,fixing his jacket again."Don't expect me to come to your wedding because I won't.This is clearly a one sided friendship and I am leaving it".

"Just get out".

The red head glared at him one last time and pulled open the door,stepping out.He didn't bother shutting it close and walked away.Lucas let out a breath,relieved of finally being alone.He still doesn't get why he decided to be friend with him.Since high school,he had always been a drama queen,he even took drama classes.Lucas was sure he would end up as an actor but wasn't surprised when he decided to become a model.But he was still grateful to him because he always had his back and he would do the same but his behaviour yesterday was unforgivable.Because of him he has to be extra cautious now.

"Damn it".He opened the file again, trying to focus on what's written but his mind kept playing the same words.

They will know now and they will come for her
