Chapter 23

"Wow"

Was the first thing that left Melanie's mouth when she saw how the mansion was decorated.The gathering room was already exotic but now with light,flowers and addition of more chandeliers, it looked even more beautiful.It was almost packed with guests that had arrived.She was told it was a get together of the William's business partners and now she was wondering just how many partners they have?

"There you are!".An arm wrapped around hers making her look up.

"Roseanne you look gorgeous!".Gushed Melanie.Her sister-in-law was looking a goddess ascended from the heavens with her white glittery gown and her red hair put into a fancy bun with beads added into it.

"You stole the words out of my mouth".Roseanne grinned."You are going to be every single guy's target or maybe even married ones".She giggled."I can't wait to see Lucas get jealous".

Melanie blushed."There are many people here".

Roseanne hummed."Lucas is trying to start a new project so he is trying to get sponsors as much as he can.Mom ordered him to greet every single guest personally".

"He will be busy all day".Melanie felt a little saddened at the information.She wanted to find some time with him.She was hoping he would compliment her on her dress.

"Come on let's eat something before we get surrounded by people".Melanie faked a smile and nodded, following Roseanne.

She felt a little or of the place.Even though she wore an expensive dress,she felt like she didn't belong here.Everything was new to her and she hadn't even dreamt that she would be attending so prestigious parties.Everywhere she looked she saw women and men dressed so elegant and they acted like it was a daily routine for them and it probably was but she wished she didn't stand out like a sore thumb because she sure felt like it.

"My my Roseanne it is so good to see you!".

A voice filled their ears making both of them turn in its direction.A woman who looked just about Roseanne's age,was walking towards them. She had black long hair and was wearing a long royal blue dress with a side silt making her slim, pale leg visible to everyone.She had a mischievous yet fake smile plastered on her face.Melanie stole a glance at her sister-in-law and saw the same fake smile but there was more irritation in it.She was sure the woman approaching and the one beside her were far from friends.

"Stella I didn't know you were back".She pulled Stella in a short hug.

"Just landed last night. I wouldn't miss these parties".

"Of course you won't".muttered Roseanne

"Where is Sebastian? I don't see him anywhere".

"Greetings the guests with Lucas".

Roseanne spoke through gritted teeth which didn't go unnoticed by black haired beauty.

"Oh my loosen up.That was ages ago! I don't like him like that anymore".She patted her arm with a smile."Well I'll see you around.We should have dinner together sometimes".She flashed a final smile and walked away.

Melanie wondering what exactly happened between them but she wasn't going to voice out her thoughts and appear nosy.

"God I hate that woman!".Groaned Roseanne."Let's go eat".She took Melanie by the arm and took her towards the food table."What do you want?".

"Umm...I am not that hungry at the moment. I'll just get a drink".Melanie pointed to the drinks area.

Roseanne sighed."Me too.Her face ruined my appetite".Then she took a look at the younger woman and sighed again."You are probably wondering what's going on between her and me".
