"I invited them today for dinner so you two could know each other better".Lucas's mother told him as she handed the maid her coat."I agreed but I am not having any dinner with them".He growled.
Unfortunately,he in the end had to agree to his parents.He is still against the idea of marrying a crippled but there is nothing he can do.He is willing to do anything for the company.He respects his work.
"In the future,you two will have to eat together so take this as a chance to get used to it".She told him and sat down."Mom!".He objected but she held out a hand."No arguments or I will ask your father to take away your car keys".She smiled smugly.
He clenched his fists and kicked the table.He stomped up the stairs while mumbling something."Come down at 8".She shouted which he ignored and slammed the door close.She sighed and picked up the T.V remote."Its about to start!".She clasped her hand.
Lucas took off his tie and threw it across the room.He hated the fact that they still treat him like a child.He may be only son and the youngest but still it wasn't fair."I hate this!".He plopped on his bed and stared at the ceiling.
He glanced at the clock hanging on the wall and groaned.He had to soon get up and change which he wasn't in the mood to.Lucas finally gathered the energy and sat up.He grabbed his towel and headed towards the toilet.

"Thank you for coming James".Mr.Williams greeted him when be entered."Thank you for inviting us Edward".James replied.Edward's eyes fell on the girl in crutches trailing behind him.
"This must be our dear Melanie".He smiled warmly at her and she returned it."Come inside".Mr and Mrs.Williams led them inside towards the dining room."This is our daughter Roseanne".Mrs.Williams introduced the red headed girl.
"Nice to finally meet you Melanie".Roseanne embraced her in a hug."Me too".Melanie shyly smiled."Lets all sit down.Shall we?".Edward suggested at which everyone nodded.
"I know it seems like I am in a haste but I really want to know when will be the wedding?".James asked while they were seated at the dining table and were having dinner.
"About that...Lucas said that he will decide when it will be".Edward spoke."We let him since its his marriage afterall.We have done many things already without asking him".
James nodded and glanced at Melanie."Its okay as long as it happens this year".He joked."I am glad Lucas agreed.I thought he would reject it"
"He did argue at first".Mrs.William said."But eventually he understood it and agreed".She smiled."He is a nice boy but sometimes gets a little carried away.Thats all".
"There he is!" Roseanne who was silent the whole time announced.They all whipped their head and saw him making his way down the stairs.
Melanie looked up and at the same time Lucas did too.It felt like fate as their eyes met.For her the time froze and she felt her heart rate increase.His soft blonde hair were bouncing with each step and his piercing green boring into her soul.
She looked down at her hands in her lap when she realised she had been gawking for too long.He took the seat across her,which was the only one empty."Good Evening".He greeted plainly."My!How much you have grown".said James
"Barbara wanted to come too but she had to take care of the kids".James explained.He had two twins who were four years old,a sixteen years old daughter and a son who was currently studying abroad.
Lucas ate in silence and rarely participated in the conversation.He had other things in mind which were keeping him occupied."Lucas!".His father's voive cut him out of trance.
"Yes father?".He asked bewildered."We were saying that why don't you take Melanie outside and show her your mother's garden while we adults do some talking".He gestured towards the door.
"No.I am good".He replied annoyed.He was well aware they were doing this so he would be alone with her and that's the last thing he wants."Lucas".His father stated sternly.
"Fine!".Lucas cursed under his breathe and got up.Melanie slowly took her crutches and balanced herself.He glared at her as he waited by the door.He glanced at his mother who was giving him the warning look.
He sighed and opened the door for Melanie."Ladies first".She smiled and went outside limpering.
