Compass - Lady Antebellum

~3rd Person POV~

Jessica sniffs at the small dolls Ray had built. He explains to her that they were his teammates from aboard a time traveling ship dubbed the Waverider. She finally learns that he is from the year two-thousand seventeen; all Jessica knows of herself is that she's from the future compared to the era she currently inhabits... she doesn't know what year.

She does know that she is a failed science experiment dumped in ancient times to be offed by whatever comes her way. She can't remember who the scientist was or even who she loved; family, friends... she doesn't know if she had anyone else like a boyfriend or even a husband, but she doubts it.

Ray is finishing the last of what is salvageable from Benji's rotting corpse as Gertrude roars loudly and comes closer to their camp. The ground shakes more and more the closer she comes. She must have caught Raymond's scent again.

Jessica trots out to Ray and nudges him roughly, trying to get him to move so they could outrun Gertrude.

"Okay, okay! I'm going!" Jessica bows down and Ray quickly hops on, allowing her to run off and away from Gertrude. Despite Jessica's speed, Gertrude knows the area just as well; maybe even better than Jessica and Ray combined. She quickly catches up to the man and his raptor as they maneuver their way through the trees.

Gertrude calls out, almost deafening both Jessica and Ray as they continue their attempt at an escape. There's a sudden sound of a blast and Jessica skids to a stop only to turn to watch as Gertrude runs the other way. Ray slides off of Jessica's back but she won't let him in front of her. Whatever chases off a T-Rex must be dangerous.

Ray's hand places itself on the end of her tail and slides up her back as he walks in front of her. Another man steps out from behind a tree, and he looks more threatening than any human Jessica had ever encountered— well, those she remembers anyway.

"Mick! Mick! Oh my god! How'd you find me?" Ray stumbles toward him but Jessica calls out, trying to get him to stay with her.

"I didn't," he answers. "Pretty did," he looks over to a man puking his guts out on the ground. Jessica nudges Ray's shoulder to get his attention.

"These are my time traveling teammates I told you about," he smiles. Jessica is going to leave with them, but she isn't ready to go yet. She quickly pushes herself under Ray, putting him on her back against his will, and running toward the faint scent of her pack.
