Whatever it Takes - Imagine Dragons

~3rd Person POV~

When morning comes around, Ray is the first to wake. The odd weight on his arm and the unfamiliar heat under the blanket has him somewhat confused until he remembers what had happened the night before.

He takes a deep breath through his nose and along with the slight tickle of Jessica's hair, the smell of grass and dirt fills his nostrils, but that's all she's ever smelled like. He can feel her leg laid over both of his and her arms holding him with a tight grip as if something could come at any moment and steal him away.

Ray opens his eyes, the room almost too dark to see anything but her light-colored face and the purple stripe that follows the same pattern as the one her scales show. Her chest rises and falls with even breaths as she continues to sleep. He runs his free hand through her horribly tangled hair and decides that later, when they're both awake, he'd help her brush it out.

His door suddenly slides open revealing Nathaniel on the other side. Ray sits up, drawing Jessica away from her sleep.

"I— oh," Nate stutters as he sees Jessica slowly waking up next to Ray. "I can come later." Ray looks at the time on his Palmer Tech watch and realizes that it's getting later in the morning than he usually allows.

"No, it's fine," he tells him. "What's up?"

"You wanted to work on the new suit," Nate reminds Ray. "But we can do it later. History's lookin good right now so uh." Nate claps his hands together, feeling very awkward about the situation. "Yeah."

"No, no, Lets go work on it," he tells Nate as he swings his legs off the side of the bed. He turns to Jessica. "Wanna help?"

"Yeah," she answers, rubbing her eyes with her hands. "I help."

"Awesome!" Ray smiles. He pushes off the bed followed by Jessica who stumbles as soon as her feet hit the ground. The soft mattress seems to be calling her name, calling for her to come back and sleep on it but she ignores the temptation reluctantly and follows Ray and Nathan to the cargo bay where his new suit rests on a mannequin.

"Okay," Ray groans as he gets up off the floor. Nathan had just flipped Ray over his shoulder while working on perfecting the Atom suit. "New suit's good, but I think it needs those modifications Cisco mentioned." Jessica stands in the corner watching as they fight.
