"Substitution: Olatunji is coming off, to be replaced by Moorhouse!" The speaker went off, as the linesman held up a board containing my number 13 in red, and Aimee Moorhouse's number 49 in green.Keeping my calm was something that I've never been too good at - and neither were my brothers. I guess, being the youngest, that I took after them. But, then again, football had taught me discipline.
At eighteen years old, my brother JJ was an internet superstar, and Deji was taking after him. Two million subscribers, JJ had, when he watched me play in the Ladies Under-16 Spurs team. He'd get fans coming to him when we walked to the car before he took me home, and they'd sometimes recognise me from being in one of his Fifa videos, and absolutely burying JJ. But, still, I was a little baby; only thirteen.
So, I got substituted at 64 minutes, and headed straight to the changing rooms to speedily get a shower, put on my shoes; and dress in something other than my kit.
-
"Em!" I heard my name as I made my way back out onto the sidelines, where I'd sit in the pit behind the substitutes, having already played.
I looked around, and saw that Marnie, who later told me she was taken off in the 70th minute, was calling me.
"Hey!" I waved, leaving go of my thin gold necklace that I'd been fiddling with.
"You showered?" She asked as I plopped down next to her.
"Yup." I told Marnie, popping the p.
"Is JJ here with Cal again?" She asked, hopefully.
"Jide's here, just not with anyone this week." I smirked, looking forwards towards my team, not long left of the second half.-
"JJ, where the fuck are you?" I gritted my teeth, speaking into my phone. "I thought you were watching me?"
"I was, lil' sis. Something came up." I got as an answer.
"Something came up?" I repeated. And here comes the 'loosing my temper' part...
Surely you couldn't blame me. I was stood outside Cheshunt's football ground - where Spurs ladies played their matches. Just finished up at our post-match consultation with our coach, I'd made my way outside to the place where JJ usually waited for me, only to find no JJ.
"What the fuck, Jide?"
"What do you mean? Don't question-" He started, but I cut him off.
"Shut up! Listen to me: I may be younger than you, but I'm there for you, aren't I? You told me that you'd watch me play. Hell, you promised me! And now I don't have a lift home." I ranted. "Again."No reply. Until...
"Em... I'm sorry, okay? I'll make it up to you." JJ told me.
"Yeah, right. You've been telling me that since Christmas. It's now May. Get it together." I huffed.
"I'll get Simon to come pick you up." Jide offered.
"I'll ask Simon myself, kiddo." I fired.
"Kiddo?" He repeated.
"You might as well be. You're acting like one." I sighed.
"Look, you're the thirteen year old, I'm the nineteen year old. You're the child, I'm the adult. Done." My brother spat."Come on," He started again, after receiving no words from me. "I apologise. I had to film with Cal, he was only free two hours ago."
"So film tomorrow with him!" I attempted at an argument.
"You know we have busy upload schedules, Em, we can't just postpone a video, our fans will question everything about it." JJ stated.
"I know. But you could've dropped me a text, told my coach - I check my phone at half-time, you know." I told him."Em. I'll make it up to you." He repeated.
"Will you really?" I snorted doubtfully.
"Yeah. I swear I will." Jide promised.
"How?" I questioned.
"I'll get McDonald's, and come and get you."
"No, you won't, because it'll take you too long." I protested. "I'll ring Simon, it's fine, you keep filming."
"What if I told you that I'm in the car right now, pulling into Cheshunt Stadium to come pick you up?" I could almost see him cocking an eyebrow at me."Then I'd tell you that you're getting your head caved in." I tried to hide my smirk.
"Get in the car, Em." Jide laughed, as I walked over to his space grey Porsche......and gave my eldest brother a right clap over the head.
"Thank you." I smiled a wide, sarcastic smile as I took the box of chicken nuggets from where they were sitting in his lap and placed them in mine.
"Fuck off!" JJ exclaimed, furrowing his brows.
"You!" I retorted, throwing a McNugget at his face.
"Em..." He started, trying to contain his laughter.
"What?"
"Em... You just threw a fucking chicken nugget at my face!"
"Not any old chicken nugget! A Maccies one! Fresh out of Ronald McDonald's ass!" I giggled."You are such a dickhead." JJ told me.
"Huh? Me?" I challenged.
"Shut UP!" JJ chuckled.
"Fight me! I can box! Smash your face in, I will."
"Oh yeah, 'cause you're hard as nails, init?"
"Try again when you've got rid of those C cups growing on your chest."In classic KSI style, JJ then decided to tense his moobs one at a time.
"You disgust me." I looked away, still munching on my chicken nuggets.
"Do I really, though?"
"Yes, JJ, you friggin' do." But all I could do was kid myself as I chuckled away at my big brother who I loved so much.a/n:
