Em POV:

"I mean, I guess that boxing training with Jide has helped." I shrugged, throwing the cap back into JJ's wardrobe and slipping on my black Yeezys that he'd nicked.
"You sure wouldn't look out of place on the undercard." Talia laughed lightly.
"I wish that I could actually spar! Or even fight. It looks so fun." I sighed.
"I wouldn't let you. That would pile more stress on everybody else - especially me and Simon." She said firmly.

"The pair of you are like another set of parents to me." I chuckled, exiting the closet and making my way out of JJ's bedroom.
"I suppose I'm a little over-protective sometimes." Talia grinned.
"Not as bad as your boyfriend - trust me." I sighed, shaking my head. "When I was little and trying to, y'know, live without the chemo, he was like 'you're going to eat really healthy'. I shit you not, T-bo, we ate bare salads for tea when he was round." I exclaimed as Talia laughed in response.

"On a real, though, he's a caring guy, innit." She walked by my side down the stairs.
"Oh, of course! It's a bit of a madness that you two have ended up together." I brought my phone out of my pocket, ordering an Uber to take me back home.
"Yeah, thanks for that." Talia walked over to the fridge, pulling a Red Bull from the side door, recalling how I introduced the two to one another.
"You're welcome." I winked.

"Yo, Em, I'm thinking of ordering these boots-" Talia showed me an image of thigh high yellow boots, "I'd wear them at the fight."
"Yellow?" I furrowed my eyebrows doubtfully.
"It should go with my Off-White belt." She gave me a bigger picture.
"And you'll be wearing an oversized jumper, presumably...?" I assumed.
"Black with a purple stripe down the side. 'Cause, like, I want to make a statement, y'know?" Talia nodded.
"They'd look cool, I guess. Anyway, why are you so bothered? The fight's over two months away, you have loads of time to decide." I pointed out.
"Preparation is key, Emmy." She said knowingly.

"What were you thinking of wearing?" Talia questioned.
"I don't really know." I shrugged.
"I'd love to see you in a dress." She raised an eyebrow, a smile tugging at her lips.
"Not going to happen." I smiled sarcastically.
"Then I guess that Yeezy dress sitting in your wardrobe will just be gathering dust..."
"How do you-" I looked at my best friend in query.
"How about I pick your outfit if you don't even know yourself what you're wearing?" Her smile grew.
"Fine." I grumbled. "Just don't buy me anything new; use stuff in my wardrobe."
"Oh my God, you're going to look so good on fight night!" Talia squeaked. And I believed her.

But, soon enough, my phone buzzed, signalling that my Uber was outside. I hugged Talia goodbye as she told me that Simon would be back soon, and I felt a pang of disappointment.

"See you later when your legs are straighter!" I shouted as I exited the front door.
"That never makes any sense." Talia exclaimed, shaking her head in confusion, shutting the door.
