Florence POV:
9:50am.The morning after, my sister and I were sat reading the text messages between Cal and Talia... It really made me feel physically nauseous.
He betrayed Em's trust, and Simon's too, for that matter. He made Simon look like the bad guy, so that he could get revenge on how she didn't choose him.
She chose his best friend.
The fact that he is so blatantly selfish made me feel sick to my stomach. They say "Don't ruin other people's happiness, just because you can't find your own.", but he did. And it didn't look as if he had one single regret, either.
-
Cal: I've swapped the dates of the conversations in Photoshop and made her seem more flirty and me less.Talia: Perfect. Send me them please.
-Reading through more messages like this (and worse) made me want to genuinely puke. How two people could be so sick and evil was beyond me. Absolutely beyond me.
My sister and I scrolled through in silence.
-
Talia: When will you tell Simon?Cal: I'll ring him tomorrow - he told me today that he's got no holidays booked with Em, too, so this won't interfere with anything.
Talia: Even if it did, we'd still go ahead with it.
Cal: That's true.
Talia: You need to tell me as soon as you've done it. I'll give Simon a text a little afterwards.
Cal: What? Will you?
Talia: Yeah - the whole point of this was to split them up so I could have Simon and you could have Em.
Cal: That's fair's, to be honest.
-"We need to show this shit to Simon, y'know." I broke the silence.
"Yeah." Ebony cheers her nail, "I know. But when?"
"As soon as fucking possible, maybe?" I shrugged, raising an eyebrow.
"We can't just–" Ebony flexed her jaw, "Okay, maybe we should just drop the bomb. We can't exactly soften the blow, here."
"Agreed." I nodded.
"Right, then, give him a call. Tell him we're coming round." She told me, sliding off the bed.
"God, what a day this will be." I forced a chuckle.Deji POV:
10:30amI was seeing Emmy that day. I planned to stay at her place for a night or two, seeing as I've only ever seen her apartment only once. And, she had been saying that she was rather ill, which made me want to see her even more.
I drove myself there, suitcase and backpack in the boot of my car, hauling them out once I arrived at the car park.
"I'll come down and meet you, bro." Em insisted down the phone as I listened to her shuffle what was presumably blankets and duvets and a groan as she shifted herself.
"No, Em, please don't. I'll literally be up there with you in a few. Stay in your flat." I insisted.
"No, Dej, honestly–"
"EMMY!"
"Oh, okay. Fine." My sister huffed moodily, clearly too drained to even put up an argument. That's when you know that things aren't right. She's usually unbelievably stubborn.
"I'll see you soon. Door's unlocked. Let yourself in - I'll be in my bedroom." Em told me.
"Thank you sis. In a bit. Love you."
"Love you, too, bro."And, with that, the phone line went dead.
Within minutes, I was outside her door. I knocked twice, to let her know I was there.
"Hi, sis!" I shouted through the house. "Am I okay to just leave my stuff in here, or...?"I didn't receive an answer.
"Em?" I said my sister's name, loud and clear. I felt my adrenaline rush as panic flooded through me.
"Emilohi?!" One more time I said her name, pacing through the small hallway into the lounge, then past her dining table, and through her kitchen. She was nowhere at all to be seen.
I dashed through to her room. It made sense that she'd be there, but I had to check the rooms prior to where she told me she would be - just incase she had moved.
The door was open, but only a touch. Grabbing the handle, I shoved it open all of the way and stepped inside, my eyes scavenging for my sister. And they located her.
Em was on the floor. Faced down. Blood looked as if it had come from an area of her face, and her left knee looked as if it were skewed. Her body - although largely hidden by her blanket and dressing gown, looked floppy.
She looked dead.
I scrambled to where she was near her bedside, and tried my best to delicately turn her over to face upwards. I discovered that the blood was coming from her lips and nose, and her left knee made me cringe to look at. Her bad knee.
"Em!" I shook her shoulders gently.
No response.
I checked her pulse on her wrist. And when I felt no heartbeat there, I tried to find a pulse on her neck.
No pulse.
I put my ear to her mouth and nose.
She wasn't breathing.
Em POV:
I don't remember putting the phone down on Deji. Hell, I don't even remember the conversation I had with Deji on the phone. I just remember feeling a sharp pain on the left side of my chest, and then everything went black.
