Flo POV:
September 15th, 2018.
JJ had invited me to his place for the first time. At this moment in time, we weren't officially a thing, yet. I definitely liked him, though. He's very down to earth, caring, and has an amazing sense of humour. He's peng as fuck, too.
This would be the first time seeing him since August 24th. It had been a little too late for him to get ringside tickets for me, however he'd texted me right until the last minute. I felt sick for him, watching him walk out after Logan with my sister beside me on the sofa...
"Stop biting your nails!" Ebony slapped my wrist.
"Don't, Eb." I sighed.
"I beg you don't stress about this guy." She combed through her hair with her fingers.
"I can't help it." I put my elbows on my thighs, resting my chin on my hands.
"You're really wound up about this, aren't you?" She put an arm around me as Logan and his team flashed on the screen. I simply nodded, whilst my brain was buzzing like Hell.
"Fuck, it's really happening." I nuzzled into Ebony's neck.
"It's going to be fine. Don't worry. He's done this before." She stroked my hair. But as soon as I saw JJ appear on screen, my stomach lurched.
"I'm not watching it." I leaped up, and without looking back, went to my room.
I laid on my bed, staring at my ceiling, trying to take deep breaths in and out to detox my body of stress. Star, my Labrador, jumped onto the bed, stretching his body out next to mine. Sitting up, I hugged him as he sat patiently with me. It worked, but only a little. I suppose, though, it was better than watching what I later was shown round one.
I don't know what I would've done if I was actually there in the venue.
After what must've been half an hour, I remember Ebony slowly opening my door, and walking quietly over to me. I jolted up - surprising Star - with a start, eager to know the result.
"Did he do good? He didn't loose, did he?" I received a shake of the head. I gasped, a smile reaching my cheeks for the first time all day. "He won?" I asked.
"No. It was a draw." Ebony smiled weakly.
...I can be a stressy person, as you can probably tell.
Anyway, I hadn't been able to see JJ before now, due to work. I'd been called in on my days off, and then had my usual four days a week to deal with. It was three weeks of bedlam at the station, pretty much.
Love that.
I looked in the mirror after my alarm went off at 8:30am. Just at the sight of how much of a wave I had in my hair, I knew that there would be no chance that I'd be able to straighten it. My best bet was a messy bun, and thin layer of foundation with a smidge of mascara. That's about as far as my makeup skills go, unfortunately.
I dressed in a pair of Adidas leggings, and an oversized blue camouflage hoodie, with a grey spaghetti strap vest underneath. I slipped a pair of olive Nike 270's onto my feet, and grabbed my phone and keys.
"Eb! I'm leaving!" I yelled.
"BYE, SIS!" She shouted as I slammed the front door shut. I locked it, and got into my black Audi A3. It was my first car, had it for three years, and it looked pretty beaten up next to my sister's brand new, cherry red Mercedes A-Class. I was saving for something, anything, that would look better than that dented, scuffed and used thing.
I quite enjoyed the feel of the BMW's that we got to drive at work. But, then again, I like the feel of any car that goes fast.
Beginning the journey to Jide's place, which would take me just under thirty minutes from our house in Denmark Hill, I gave him a call to let him know that I was on my way.
"Yo." He picked up near enough immediately.
"I've just set off, dude." I informed.
"Cool, cool. Good. How long you staying for?" JJ asked.
"As long as you want me to."
"Brilliant." He answered; I could almost see his grin.
