Em POV:

"What took you so long?" I rushed up to Simon as he was barely through my doorway.
"Steady on." He chuckled, "Needed to charge the car on the way. No biggie."
"Oh, okay." I chewed the sleeve of my jumper.

"What's the matter?" He questioned almost immediately.
"I'm just done with all of the 'family drama' bullshit. I don't understand why any of it had to happen in the first place - it's so stupid!" I put a hand to my temple as I poured the both of us something to drink.

"I know. It's fully understandable how you're so pissed off about it - this is the second time this has happened, am I right?" Simon made eye contact with me, leaning on the counter.
"You sure are." I rolled my eyes, too tired to be irritated.
"Deji had to go through this when you and JJ had that argument, innit, though."
"Yes but it wasn't public, that time. And it was simple enough, too. He hated me, so we didn't speak for a while."
"Point made." He didn't bother to try and change my mind.

"I'm sorry that I'm complaining." I put my head in my hands, walking towards my sofa.
"It's fine, you can talk to me whenever. I understand." Simon smiled warmly.

At this, I flushed, fiddling more with the sleeve of my hoodie.

He came and sat next to me after that, and I rested my head on his shoulder, too mentally and physically exhausted to hold it up anymore.

Simon shifted a little, so my head raised again to see what he was doing. Instead, it took me by surprise when his index finger brushed the underside of my chin, gently pulling it upwards in the direction of his face.

I didn't really realise what was happening until... Well, it was.

He leant in and I did too, and then we were kissing. Fucking kissing.

You know when you read books, and they say that when two people kiss, like, fireworks fly and shit like that. It really did feel that way. It's hard to describe - it was as if the world eroded away and we were the only two people living. It was a burden off my shoulders, knowing that he felt the same way as I did about him.

We pulled away for a second, and I was smiling. For the first time in weeks, euphoria was engulfing me. He was laughing ever so slightly, Simon was, as he pressed his forehead against mine. I started chuckling; were just about to touch lips again, when–

"YO!" The loud voice of Florence Holland flooded the living room.

Sorry, let me rephrase that; the entire flat.

The pair of us jumped up, flustered, wiping our sleeves on our mouths. As if that would do anything.

"Hey, um, Flo." I greeted as she entered the room, Simon just standing there awkwardly.
"I should go..." He said quietly.
"No, you don't have to–"

But he was already out the door, grabbing his phone from the counter, shouting his goodbyes.
"Catch you in a bit, Emmy!" He waved behind him. The door slammed shut.

"Want to tell me what that was all about?" Flo cocked an eyebrow, a hand on her hip.
"I forgot you were coming." I slapped a hand to my forehead.
"That doesn't answer my question, yampy." She pursed her lips.

By now, I had gotten used to her Brummie slang. 'Yampy' is defined as someone who's an idiot, mad, or loosing the plot.

She's such a charmer.

"He came to help with stuff, that's all." I looked at the floor, sheepishly.
"I smell bullshit!" Flo shouted.
"That's the truth!" I insisted.
"No, it's not." She chewed the inside of her mouth - this is what she always did when she was thinking. "Just tell me, for Gods' sake. You're a terrible liar."

I sighed.
"We been knew." I muttered.
"Spit it out, then." Florence shook my shoulders.
"W-We kissed." I told her with a thumb to my lip, biting my nail.
"What?" She said.
"Don't make me repeat it." I walked away from her and into the kitchen.
"I genuinely didn't hear you." She rolled her eyes. "Just tell me, already!"
"We kissed! Alright! He kissed me." I admitted, leaving Flo's jaw hanging.

"Actually?" She almost squealed.
"Yeah." I couldn't help but grin at her glee.
"For real? You're not joking?" Florence was smiling brightly.
"Nope!" I laughed.
"Oh my God! Finally!" She celebrated, grabbing my hands and waving them around.

"Why are you so happy?" I grinned.
"Because, first of all - IT'S FINALLY HAPPENED!" Flo couldn't wipe the smile from her face.
"Could you tell that I liked him?" I widened my eyes.
"It wasn't overly obvious, but I'm a freak that picks up on body language, eye contact, and the way people act." She elaborated, "I've always been that way."
"Nonce." I rolled my eyes jokingly. She punched my shoulder softly at this.

"Second of all, your brother owes me fifty quid."
"YOU AND J HAD A BET?" I frowned, horrified in a way.
"It was jokes. He said it wouldn't happen because you two have known each other for so long, it wouldn't work. He was cool with the idea, though." Flo assured.
"Oh wow - really?" This took my by surprise.
"Yeah, but I'll assume that he'd want to hear you and Simon–" She pouted her lips, closing her eyes, "directly from yourselves."
"We can arrange that." I nodded.
"Class!" She couldn't wipe the smile from her face.

And neither could I.
