Vik POV:

JJ had just messaged to tell us the good news of Em's progress at the hospital. I'm sure I speak on behalf of everyone when I say that the relief was surreal.

We knew that we still had news to await with Em's knee, but so far, everything was looking good.

Thank God.

And Simon and JJ were adamant that they weren't going to leave the hospital until they heard the news of Emmy's knee ultrasound. Deji decided to leave and go home to his parents, which is very understandable. He'd had a very, very emotional day, considering the fact that he'd found Emmy himself.

The rest of us in the Sidemen House were doing our best to chill. We were eating, chatting and congregating in the same room, and didn't dare leave each other out of fear that others would receive updates on Em before they did.

But, things were really looking up.

As well as Harry, Ethan, Tobi and Manny - Callux had joined us at the house. Flo had been out for about an hour, too. She went to the hospital to get Emmy's apartment keys from Deji, then went to her apartment to pack some clothes and toiletries and other stuff for her, and then brought them back to the hospital for the boys to hold onto until they were allowed to see Em on a ward.

All we had to do now, was wait.

Simon POV:

Not long after we'd been delivered the first lot of news about Em, the nurse was back to deliver more news about her.

It was quite shocking.

This is what she said:

"Hi, again, I have an update about Em for you." The nurse said, "You both might want to sit down."

JJ and I exchanged a worried look, taking a seat each.

"So the ultrasound is now done, and she's going back into surgery."
"What, why?" JJ frowned, quite shocked.
"Firstly, her left kneecap is completely shattered, along with the two bones in her lower left leg - her tibia and fibula. There is no way that her kneecap can be naturally repaired, and it would be a struggle for her to heal her own bones with her blood supply being so poor because of the arrest she's been through. And, secondly, I'm afraid that we've found a large blood clot behind her kneecap." The nurse explained to us.

"Looking at Emilohi's medical history, if she did notice the small lump that shows, or the pain that it most likely caused her, she will have put this down to the fact that her knee was already severely injured to start with. This could be one of the causes of the clot. It has definitely been there a long time, killing significant areas of her muscle tissue around her knee."

"Oh my God... So, what does this mean?" JJ asked.

I had my head in my hands. I knew what was coming.

"She'll be having her left leg amputated, above her knee."

I watched JJ's face fall.
"And there's not other way?" He said quietly.
"I'm so sorry, there isn't. This is the only way that she can be healthy again, even if the recovery takes some time." The nurse tried smiling sympathetically.

She must do this a lot.

"She's going to be okay, Jide." I put my hand on my beat friend's shoulder. "This is the best thing to do for her."

He just rested his elbows on his knees and looked at the floor.

"Thank you." I nodded to the nurse.
"I'll be back to let you know when you can go and see her on the ward." She walked away, again.
